View Full Version : Republican Party Reborn: The Underdogs Become the Champions in Cleveland

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Republican Party has been reborn.

The Republican Party has been liberated from the corrupting forces of globalist special interests. The Republican Party of losers and grifters has been replaced by a new party, rising from the ashes of George W. Bush and John Boehner. This new party has whites, blacks, browns, Asians, and everything else.

These are the dreamers who are coming out of the shadows as Donald Trump supporters. These are the undocumented Republicans who are finally proving their power with ballots.

The new Republican Party. Just like the old Republican Party, but without any pretense of commitment to smaller government or traditional social values.

More, maybe they should have signed a completely different contract with their record company, not permitting their music to be licensed, ever. The parties in question purchased a blanket license. That means they were legally authorized to use any and all songs in the portfolio of the record companies they paid. Musicians are just whiny, really very stupid people. And, like all creatives, tend leftist. Fortunately for them, up to now Republicans have been even stupider and wimpier. Every time a musician stupidly whined "I demand he stop playing my music, because he's a racist homophobe Republican!" they would cave and immediately stop playing it, I guess to avoid further bad publicity. Romney, Gingrich, McCain, Bush, Dole, Other Bush, even as far back as Reagan.

Of course this time, the Republican has taken a somewhat different approach.

THIS is what matters:

The rock group Queen was not pleased about Donald Trump using their anthem We Are The Champions for his entrance music at the Republican National Convention in Cleveland on Monday night.

Taking to Twitter on Tuesday, the group issued a terse message:

“An unauthorised use at the Republican Convention against our wishes – Queen”

This is the second time the band has objected to Trump using its music. In June, Queen guitarist Brian May said on his blog that Trump’s use of We Are The Champions at a campaign event was “was neither sought nor given.” He also said it was against Queen’s policy for their music to be used in political campaigns.

Despite the outrage, the convention likely didn’t infringe on any copyrights, and unauthorized use of music in political campaign events is commonplace. “What is clear is the use that they made last night is legal” said music and film lawyer Marc Jacobson, adding that venues can buy rights to play songs from music licensors like the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP).

What isn’t so clear is if there “is a notion of implied endorsement that they [Queen] somehow support Trump,” Jacobson said.

“That’s the issue, does the use of the song during a political campaign imply an endorsement by the owners of the copyright of the song?” Jacobson said. “A lot of people think it does and a lot of people think it doesn’t, so it is up in the air and the law is not clear on the subject.”

Twitter users came to their own conclusions of the matter, saying the late Queen frontman Freddie Mercury— who was gay—is probably rolling in his grave over his song being played at a Republican Party convention.

That seems ridiculous to me. Of course playing a recorded song doesn't imply an endorsement from whomever owns the copyright. I don't see how there's even an issue there.

THIS is what matters:

So you take the side of the stupid, whiny musicians who are trying to abrogate their contract (or perhaps just get publicity by whining), correct? They are obviously legally wrong, they are obviously morally wrong. Why would you take their side?

They knowingly singed a contract allowing their songs to be played at just such events and they have knowingly harvested millions of dollars over the years from people doing this very thing. About 50% of whom were Republicans, by the way (in the US). But now they're too good for Republicans? They weren't too good for their money! Whiny babies, whiny babies, wah, wah, wah!

Musicians become stupid and whiney when they go around bullying other people and telling them not to play their music.

If I were a musician and a politician I didn't like played my song, I would use it as an opportunity write an op-ed about why I disagreed with them, but I wouldn't ever tell somebody to stop playing my music. I might consider asking them nicely, but I would never EVER use the threat of violence, state or otherwise, that is just retarded.

You do know that the music recording industry is completely corrupt and stupid whiny musicians have suffered a long time for it, right?

I certainly do not know that, do not accept that, and happen to know that music company executives are perfectly good, decent people. They are honest, they are smart, they are hard-working -- just like company executives in general.

Now many musicians are good people, too. Beethoven. Handel. Yo-Yo Ma. I am referring specifically to the dirt-bag losers who want to abrogate their contracts. Even if their executives weren't decent and upstanding, does that justify reneging on a contract? Did Queen have their fingers crossed behind their back or something when they signed?

I like people who keep their word. "My word is my bond" kind of thing. It's OK, Ender, it's from a different age, you wouldn't understand.

I do understand your automatically hating anyone with a tie. I do understand your automatically sympathizing with anyone who is a disgusting, drug-addicted, tattoo-covered, disease-filled degenerate, as modern musicians generally are. But in this case, try to see past any hippie proclivities you may have and just take the side of "Let's keep our word and let's not attempt to go back on contracts."

Well at least you have good taste is music- BUT you obviously do not know much about the music industry- it is a monster that destroys artists while making money off them.

Had a friend that signed with a major record company a few years ago and then found that they had signed 3 other musicians they thought was close to his genre, decided which ONE they would support and left the others to rot. They were under contract and could not record or sell their own music or even use their own name. Happens all the time. The music industry has long been known for it's slime-bag ways. The Internet has solved a lot of Film Industry corruption with filmmakers- the Music Industry has been much worse but is now starting to implode.
