Last week, U.S. Representative Steve King, a Republican from Iowa, spoke to Sioux City TV station KCAU about the bill he recently introduced (https://steveking.house.gov/media-center/press-releases/king-introduces-sarah-s-law-in-honor-of-sarah-root-from-iowa) in Congress. In the video interview, a Confederate flag is displayed on King’s desk, along with the U.S. flag, the Iowa state flag, the Gadsden flag, and the Papal State flag.

King defended (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xntu-MqYUd0&feature=youtu.be) the display of the Confederate flag over the South Carolina state Capitol last year, following Dylann Roof’s attack on a historic black church in Charleston. (The flag was ultimately lowered (http://gawker.com/south-carolina-lowers-the-statehouse-confederate-flag-f-1716999204).) More recently, the congressman tried to block Harriet Tubman (http://gawker.com/gop-congressman-tries-to-block-tubman-20-says-its-ra-1782403339) from being put on the $20 bill.

King’s office did not respond to a request for comment. He previously has praised his ancestors (http://www.desmoinesregister.com/videos/news/politics/2016/07/11/86954666/), who he says fought with the abolitionists to end slavery.

Also the "Live free or die" plaque on the wall seems problematic during WOT... as long as US is trying to subdue insurgents in occupied countries like Iraq, Afghanistan, Palestine etc, it sends a counter-productive message.

So much for freedom of speech. When displaying a flag is deemed offensive enough to be worth censoring, you can be guaranteed that any public display of support for your own country is soon to follow. "Made in USA" is now deemed offensive. Wearing shirts with the American Flag is equally offensive. I do not think it will be long until words such as "Freedom, Liberty, Rights, and Constitution" are all flat out banned and prohibited by law.

We pass laws to prevent offending people who broke the law to get here. How ironic. We will eventually end up passing laws that restrict or even fully eliminate freedom of speech so that the general law abiding slaves do not offend the Pastafarian Religion of Spaghetti. We only afford the protections of the law to minorities when it enables more power, control, and censorship to the state and does not offer any actual protections to those minorities. We continue to purposefully misinterpret the word minority as racial and never recognize certain choices of people as being minorities. Libertarians and Constitutionalists are as much a minority group as any ethnic group. Yet, no one in our so called elected representation affords us any form of dignity or even recognition. We are considered fringe and dangerous. We are disenfranchised. The values and principles we try to support within reason are branded extremist and censored by both governments and private corporations such as Facebook and Google by their various algorithms.

... and for the record, that is NOT the Confederate Flag, that is the State of Virginia's Battle Flag.

You almost got it right, it is the Battle Flag as opposed to the Unit Flag, but it the Army of Northern Virginia, not the State of Virginia Army. Anyone that does not or cannot tell the difference should educate themselves (not referring to Damian rather anyone else reading this).

The flag of the Army of Northern Virginia during the command of Robert E. Lee. As opposed to the Battle Flag .

The name Army of Northern Virginia referred to its primary area of operation, as did most Confederate States Army names at the time. The Army originated as the (Confederate) Army of the Potomac.

Great let's then also ban Alabama's state flag, Britain's flag, and Scotland's flag while we are busy demonizing the Saint Andrew's Cross.
