Maine State Senator Eric Brakey is on the committee. He posted yesterday about them passing his "Right to Try (http://freebeacon.com/issues/gop-platform-supports-terminally-ills-right-experimental-drugs/)" amendment. And now just posted that two other of his amendments have passed committee: Auditing the Pentagon, and Abolishing the IRS...

Why are we talking so much about the Constitution?

I'd say "unbelievable", but spent too many years in politics to be surprised...

Brakey is great, but really, what difference does it make?

The GOP is disfunctional, the liberty movement is diffused to the point of impotence, and a party's platform means nothing.

The focus should be getting more people like him, and Stickland, and Shem, and Justin, and Thomas, etc elected to state and local seats.

I listened to a replay of a lot of it late last night. There were several who spoke about the enumerated powers and states rights.

I've been focusing down-ticket for years, where've you been?

Yes, the GOP can be said to be dysfunctional, along with the DP, LP and GP. Unfortunately, parties are about the only electoral vehicles on the road these days. It is what it is.

Yes, the platforms are pretty meaningless when the parties don't insist on adherence, but, even now, they do have some utility, if only to show people how hypocritical the establishment can be. (On that note I'd imagine there were more than a few raised eyebrows towards the objection "Why are we spending so much time talking about the Constitution", and that the situation allowed Eric to bring others more towards our line of thinking)

I don't find the liberty movement diffused to the point of impotence. Ron Paul's '08 run was the exception rather than the norm so basing an opinion on that anomaly seems flawed.

I keep seeing more an more people calling for Eric to run for Governor. While I don't think it is time yet, things like that will make quite a difference...

Onward!

Couldn't help but think of this meme but I don't even think (aside from a few) the GOP is sweating it all that hard.

The platform is a meaningless document anyways. A candidate is not bound to follow any of it. Once the election is over (if not sooner- say a week after the convention), it is completely forgotten. What it is mostly for is to appease groups which lost or felt left out. Given them a "like" on their Facebook page so they feel good.

Are we the party of the sanctity of life? Or the party of indiscriminate war? (paraphrased)

Official Campaign Staffer in Maine in 2012, getting us the win. He's doing well.

His assistant director (maybe?), also an Official Campaign Staffer, David Boyer, is also doing well, he's leading the Yes on 1 - the legalize Marijuana referendum efforts in Maine.

Hooray for Maine's Official Campaign Staffers for Ron Paul in 2012.
