you can try, but he likes sticking his boot up Iraqies asses

Actually he has stated that he's not sure about going in to Iraq and has serious reservations about it. His "pro war" songs were about going after Bin Laden and he supported going in to Afganistan.

Familydog is right. I saw the interview with Dan Rather on cmt a few years back and he said he understood going after Bin Laden, but wasn't sure what Iraq had to do with it. He's definately in play and that imo would be huge! Much more so than that Norris guy!

So does anyone on the boards know him? :D

Perhaps Dr Paul could call him personally ;)

Cowlesy

Maybe send some messages to Ron's kids/grandkids MySpace pages and let them know?

At this point I imagine that would have a better chance of yielding a result as opposed to contacting the official staff.

im in the south and as much as i hate fake whiny boy pop country... if someone like him endorsed ron paul, and would talk about him in interviews and magazines... we would get a great deal of people opening up to ron paul in the south.

Yeah I saw that interview with Dan Rather a few years back, even at that time he even sounded a little hesitant about supporting GWB.

He is on cnn right now talking about how he hasn't found is guy, we need to show him the light.

My wife jokingly refers to Toby Keith as her "second husband" (not that we know him, but she'd leave me in a heartbeat for him). If both of her husbands were to be avid Ron Paul supporters, you'd think she'd get on board. :D

Our publicist should contact his about this...

Yeah, I'd actually been thinking about this for a while. He's against the war (although he considers himself a democrat) and he has massive appeal.

The Dixie Chicks!

With Penn and Teller it would be great to see if they'd do some tricks on the blimp. :D

His song was the rally cry for the war in Iraq.

The war in Iraq was an error in judgment. One thing you look for in a leader is good judgment.

Ron Paul has good judgment. :)

Singer Toby Keith explains the motivation behind the post-9/11 song he wrote and how it was not interpreted correctly

"Now the difference between me and Sean Penn is that I've talked to 50 generals. I doubt he's even talked to one. I didn't support the war in Iraq and still don't, but I'm sure I know more about it than he does. When he and Clooney get together and say we should go to Africa and stop the genocide, I'll be the one over there performing for the troops when it happens."

I always assumed he was a big neo-con supporting, big ole red white and blue boot up yer ass, freedom fries, git r done, kill them ragheads over there so they dont come here, Sean Hannity suckin' DOOFIS.

After reading what he said, I stand corrected and have a lot more respect for the guy now.

Agreed. But why not do both? Hell, have everyone send him stuff on Ron.

PS I see you are a moderator now. I think you'll be the best Moderator on the planet, and frankly I am honored to be in your presence. I guess you joined the CFR to get that gig huh? (Council on Forum Relations):D

I was actually wonder how often he is at the restaurant.

John Starks (former NBA player) had a restaurant in Tulsa at one time and he was there quite a bit.

I suspect Toby Keith drops in a lot too. It'd be good for business too :)

An endorsement from Toby Keith could make a HUGE difference here in the South. He is well liked here and a LOT of folks would gain more respect for Dr. Paul from this endorsement simply because they are uninformed about the true nature of Toby's song that they hear played all the time on the radio here.

OTOH: the Dixie Chicks are hated by most folks who actually listen to country music so I wouldn't push an endorsement from them too much. Just my .02 worth.

Toby Keith said in an interview I saw he has been a democrat his whole life.

If he were to endorse Ron Paul, that would be a huge shift in his outlook I would think.
