It seems some pro-Ron Paul vandalism and spam has landed on my anti-Huckabee website http://www.opposehuckabee.com/.

Let me explain.

You can see the vandalism here: http://opposehuckabee.com/wiki/index.php?title=Mike_Huckabee_on_homeschooling&oldid=191

All the articles on the wiki were changed to an ascii drawn middle finger. Below the drawing were 6 links with the text: Ron Paul, Ron Paul for President, Ron Paul 2008, Ron Paul `08, President Ron Paul, Elect Ron Paul.

Obviously I was upset.

It looked like a Ron Paul supporter decided to vandalize my wiki to advertise Ron Paul! With a vulgar drawing no less!

Turns out it was a bit more involving than that:

* The ip addresses are tor ip addresses (87.98.217.43 and 82.165.180.112).
* And the links all go to anti-Ron Paul articles (SuicideGirls "F* Ron Paul", "Ron Paul is the country’s court jester", etc)

This seems weird.

My website has had only a couple of hundred visits. I have only mentioned the wiki on these forums. The only referrals have been from ronpaulforums.

So someone takes the time to craft vandalism designed to appear like it is by Ron Paul supporters but actually links to anti-Ron Paul articles. Argh!

It appears I'll have to lock the wiki down much quicker than I first thought.

Can anyone else make any sense out of this?

So the vandalism was made to look pro-Paul but it's really someone trying to make us look bad?

Are you able to to see the exact time the edit was done? If so, go back to your logs and find out exactly where they came from.

Who cares?

No one would go to the site if you didn't post it everywhere.

Are you not creating problems and then complaining about them? Seems a bit silly to me.

Anytime you put up site that can be editable by anyone there will be vandals.

Indeed, I expected that.

But a couple of things are interesting:

* It's designed to look pro-Ron Paul but really link to anti-Ron Paul articles.
* It's not typical spam found on wikis.
* There's a limited amount of people who even know about the site since it has only been posted on ronpaulforums.

If it was normal spam or what appeared to be an angry huckabee supporter, I wouldn't have bothered posting this :)

87.98.217.43 is from Paris France (wikipedia has blocked this IP
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:87.98.217.43
82.165.180.112 is from Germany.

So I don't know if the culprits are from these countries or if these are foreign proxies they've used.

-----------------

OK it's official these IPs are both proxies used to hide the identities of assholes posing as supporters.

That's partly why I posted this. Let everyone know that things aren't always what they seem.

The media is too technically ignorant to understand just because it says "<a href="somerandomantironpaulwebsite">Vote Ron Paul!</a>" doesn't mean it is spam by Ron Paul supporters.

87.98.217.43 goes by the screen name EagleONE or EagleUNOS on several forums (http://www.network54.com/Forum/27708/thread/1193931127/last-1196654524/500B+MTN+available) (link to one of them). He is definitely not a Ron Paul supporter. On this forum (http://64.233.169.104/search?q=cache:vuAecgfvAxMJ:www.scam.com/showthread.php%3Fp%3D460227+EagleONE+%22ron+paul%2 2&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=15&gl=us), he says

Oh please. Stretching the story line again. Let me make this real simple for you, but then I doubt if you still will get it. There are a group of low-life's called Islamic Extremists or Terrorists that want to kill you, and anyone else who doesn't believe in their cause of total domination. They don't care if you support them, they want you subject to their ideology. When people here are calling people there or vice-a-versa who are known terrorists, you bet your sweet rear end I don't give a care if they are recorded or the conversations are listened to. I am not going to lose any of my citizenship rights if I make a call to someone in one of these countries that is a friend that I know is not a terrorist. As soon as it is discovered that the person I am calling is not on the terrorsit list, there won't be any recording of the converstaion. Contrary to your conspiracy belief's. Bill had Carnivore, that was domestic syping on all U.S. citizens, and not a peep out of the libs about this. But I love your selective concern.

Case closed.

Not quite. The IP seems to be part of Tor, which allows users to communicate anonymously on the internet. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tor_(anonymity_network)

I'm mostly pissed that someone made vulgar spam to make us Ron Paul supporters look bad.

The suicide girls piece was the most horrifying thing I've read recently. The negativity was oozing out of my keyboard.

This is why goth porn stars shouldn't write political opeds.

My goth friends love Dr. Paul. I don't have any porn sstar friends so I wouldn't know about them.

Oh I know who they are, I have one of their videos :). They should probably stick to that though.

I don't know why liberals keep bringing the race issue back up since it's been shot to death so many times.

Perhaps they think if you keep throwing something at the wall, it'll eventually stick. Or, if you don't get your point across the first time, try again, but louder.

It has about a 0% chance of sticking until Ron Paul starts being covered frequently in the MSM and polls like Huckabee is now. I do not think it'll stick even then, but they'll try, try again.

Either Hucksters or Fedheads. But you are kind of asking for it with an anit-huck website.

Your site is on Google and is on digg for the last 13 hours. Either of those could have brought people there.

And if you search on google for "hickabee wiki" a ronpaulforums page that you posted on is #5 and says Oppose Huckabee......

Talking about other candidates attracts attention. I have no idea how you can run a wiki like that.

Try a blog....
