Someone close to Katie Couric says the former morning show host regrets the insertion of an eight-second pause in her gun control film, Under the Gun, to make it appear as if pro-gun advocates could not properly answer a question.
Breitbart News previously reported that the pause — inserted to delay responses to Couric’s background check question — gave the impression that pro-gun individuals were stumped or unsure how to respond to the topic of gun control.

Audio and video obtained by The Washington Free Beacon proved beyond a doubt that the pro-gun responses were given immediately after Couric asked the question, yet the film makes it look like the respondents sat in silence for nearly ten seconds, trying to ascertain how to respond.

Raw audio of the scene in question clearly shows the gun advocates immediately addressing Couric’s question:

According to The Wrap, Couric now regrets the insertion of the pause: “This was an unnecessary mistake. It did not represent editing someone’s sentences. There was no factual error. This is not a mistake that is a substantive mistake,” a source close to Couric told the outlet. “It could have been avoided. This was a poor decision that was made, and it involves silence.”

Breitbart News previously reported that Couric’s film also omitted a four-hour interview with gun scholar John Lott, Jr.

She sorry because she got caught. Thank God true patriots were taping it, and exposed her deception.

The only thing that wench is sorry for is that she got caught at it. Sorry, my ass.

The irritating bit here is that her career will probably go on as if nothing had happened... just like that Brian What'sHisName and all the other jerkoffs who get nailed, pants down and carry on in spite of a dire need to see long-term unemployment and lifetime discredit.

"I think the propaganda machine is the biggest problem that we face today in trying to get the truth out to people." Ron Paul

I wonder if Katie would agree.

BREAKING: Katie Couric Sued for $12 Million For Defamation In Anti-Gun Documentary
http://bearingarms.com/bob-o/2016/09/13/breaking-katie-couric-sued-12-million-defamation-anti-gun-documentary/

In the filing, the VCDL, Daniel L. Hawes, Esq., and Patricia Webb allege that the filmmakers knowingly and maliciously manufactured the fictional exchange by splicing in footage that the filmmakers took surreptitiously after telling the interviewees to be silent for ten seconds so that recording equipment could be calibrated. The filing also contains side-by-side screenshots of the film’s footage of the VCDL members and anti-gun advocates, alleging that the filmmakers manipulated lighting to cast shadows on the VCDL members and to make them appear sinister and untrustworthy. “We were horrified to see how Couric and her team manipulated us and the video footage to make us look like fools who didn’t stand up for the Second Amendment,” said Mr. Philip Van Cleave, President of the VCDL. “We want to set the record straight and hold them accountable for what they’ve done. You shouldn’t intentionally misrepresent someone’s views just because you disagree with them.”

You can read the defamation case against Couric here (PDF).

Among other things, the complaint alleges that, “The Defendants manipulated the footage in service of an agenda: they wanted to establish that there is no basis for opposing universal background checks by fooling viewers into believing that even a panel of pro-Second Amendment advocates could not provide one. The Defendants intentionally disregarded the truth of the actual exchange that had taken place and took at least six intentional steps to manufacture a fictional exchange to support their agenda.”

In addition to editing footage of VCDL members, the suit alleges that Soechtig’s film crew used lighting tricks to make VCDL members look shadowed and sinister, while favoring gun control supporters with much more flattering lighting.

The suit alleges defamation and defamation by implication against the Virginia Citizens Defense League (VCDL), Federal Firearms Licensee (FFL) Patricia Webb, and attorney Daniel L. Hawes.

The plaintiffs seek not less than $12 million in compensatory damages, $350,000 each in punitive damages, attorneys fees and costs, and an injunction against “disseminating, distributing, or publishing” any version of the film containing the plaintiffs.

I am glad they are suing, and I hope they win to set an example that this deception WILL NOT BE TOLERATED!
