One day all three announce switching affiliation.

LP takeover by qualified, well spoken, no baggage, no bullshit libertarians.

Ramifications? Positive/Negative.

Who else might they pull from the House Liberty Caucus? Who could they pull from state legislatures?

Discuss....

They would most likely lose their next general election. But for Rand, he would have a six year run. Wasn't Sanders an independent for years? That seems to have worked.

Sanders lives in a state where 6 in 10 of the population are communist or more , Rand does not.Yes , they would all lose next election. No they would pull nothing from the State legislatures who would also lose next elections.

even if they all did it at the same time; a movement, orchestrated defection in masse?

I don't think there's much impetus for any of them to switch parties. For major party candidates to make the switch to a minor party would most likely be political suicide: no funding, no media coverage, no political support. Gary Johnson made the switch four years ago, and look how little respect that's garnered him, even in liberty-leaning forums.

Your hopes here appear be based on a reality not in evidence WRT the nature of the average American beast. There is a great plurality of people who simply don't give the least damn about any of this so long as Call Of Duty is available for team play, there's coke on the mirror, a slut bobbing her head the "right" way, reality TV on the toob, and beer in the fridge. The rest can go to the devil, it seems.

Beside that, there is another contingent: that of the party ideologue who will vote the party no matter what. There are the dummies who cannot think their ways out of a wet paper thought-bag if their lives depended on it. There are the pragmatists who, concluding that no libertarian has a chance of winning, the next best thing is to go with Brand X candidate because they don't want to be on the losing team. Then there's...

IOW, it APPEARS there are insufficient people to get on board... at least at this time. Give it another few years as the economics go even further into the toilet, or race relations take a big turn for the worse and this may change, assuming it is not too late by then. Let us hope it is not.

All I have to say on this is, revolution comes suddenly. You cannot predict it, accurately.
There is a very substantial risk with this.

The more important question is, what is there to gain ?

In other words, why would the Libertarian party be a better vehicle for the message of liberty ?

Maybe Amash is getting ready to do just that? He has these cryptic tweets and he's making strange votes that keep PO the social conservative base.
