I just wrote this to my liberal Democratic Congressman. What do you think?

Dear Rep Visclosky;

I was very disturbed upon learning of your vote for the HR 3791 the "SAFE ACT". It is not the responsibility of the Federal Government to regulate the Internet. While we all agree that abuse of children is a serious problem, Congress is bound by the constraints of the Constitution.

This law is in direct violation of the 10th amendment of the Constitution: "The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the states, are reserved to the states respectively, or to the people."

The issue of Child Pornography is an issue of Criminal Sexual Abuse. Criminal Sexual Abuse along with all serious crimes such as rape and murder are the realm of state government.

I see the provisions of HR 3791 even criminalize "illegal images" such as cartoons. This is making it a crime for Internet providers to have people transmit images where there was not even an original crime!

In a perfect world, child abuse would never happen. The world is not perfect and it is a crime as old as the hills. The Internet may help facilitate this, but so do cameras. Are we going to punish camera manufacturers because someone did something Illegal with the camera?

One of 2 Representatives who voted NO on this Unconstitutional Bill was Representative Ron Paul of Texas. If you spend any time traveling in my part of your district, you will notice there is a wind of change in the air. Ron Paul has 20 foot banners in neighbors yard, bumper stickers, signs, and more. It would be wise to take notice of the coming change.

We Americans are tired of our Freedom being taken away little by little from Congress. Even though the intentions of these bills may be good, the ramifications are not.

We Americans want LOWER taxes, LESS regulation, and MORE freedom. I am also very wary of your anti-gun policies. You have supported over the years, many bills which violate the 2nd Amendment. I am a holder of a Concealed Carry Permit in the state of Indiana and a strong supporter of the rights of self-defense.

Your district also suffers some of the highest crime rates in the Nation in areas such as Gary. The problem with Gary is the Unconstitutional and insane "War on Drugs". The Constitution gives NO authority to Congress to regulate drugs. Even when Alcohol (which is a drug) was banned, Congress knew that it took an Amendment to the Constitution to do so. I hope you will support Repealing the Controlled Substances Act of 1971.

Last but not least, the tax burden in America is far too high. We don't need more Government programs, we need less. We need to be allowed to opt out of Social Security. We need to be allowed to opt out of Medicare. Where in the Constitution does it grant Congress the authority to run retirement & healthcare programs? It is Socialism and not "promoting the general welfare".

America was founded on the unique idea of freedom which stood in stark contrast from the tyranny of the ages. We want to be left alone, to live and let live. I encourage you to support these principles and embrace the revival of freedom which is taking America by storm.

Regards;
Jason Oliver
