View Full Version : Yes, this exists, and our government wants to spend your tax dollars on it.

Physiognomy, a debunked pseudo-science that was popularized in the Victorian eras and even extrapolated upon by the Nazis is on way back into our lives. A firm in Israel claims that it has a software that can scan peoples' faces and pick out extroverts/introverts, good poker players, and even pedophiles and potential terrorists. Their claim is that the DNA that makes you more likely to commit acts of sexual perversion or terrorism is displayed on the face, and the pentagon is putting money into this thing.

Yep, your tax dollars are at work so you can be put on a list of people who might commit crimes because you look the part.

Check it out:

Facial profiling: Israeli start-up says its tech can detect terrorists from just looking at a face (https://www.rt.com/viral/344261-israel-faception-terrorists-dectection/)

Interesting. Stranger things have happened. I'm curious about how it will all turn out. Let's field test it on a bunch of politicians and wannabes.

I wonder if the 'system' could be tweaked to ID psychopaths and sociopaths.

Does this mean all the pedophiles will soon stop being in our government?

It may just mean that they'll all be getting plastic surgery. LOL!

for the sake of disambiguation:

phrenology was the study of head bumps.

Physiognomy is the study of facial features. Physiognomy gained traction after pointing out people with deep set eyes, and large sloped foreheads were more likely to commit crimes. This also was when Eastern European were coming to America, therefore making the poorest of the poor immigrants, and the most likely to commit crimes.

I am sure someone is making twice as much as me conducting this junk science with my tax dollars.

One mans junk is another's treasure. I'm sure the A.I. profiling hardware will just go bananas in conjunction with this. The sheeple will believe it, thats what matters so you can be safe.

I would like to see data where this software is used on a large sample of people, and what predictions it can make. Phrenology was wrong because it couldn't make accurate predictions. If this can, there's no reason why it wouldn't be a valid model.

I can pretty reliably estimate how likely someone is to have been convicted of a crime, just by looking at their face.

How about a test dataset comprised of photos of folks in jail and prison?
