Letter: Jones in June

Tuesday, May 17, 2016

On March 23, I wrote in The Daily Reflector that Michael Needham, CEO of Heritage Action, did 3rd District citizens a genuine service by correcting a falsehood that candidate Taylor Griffin told in an expensive TV ad that he paid to run for weeks. Griffin had claimed that Walter Jones betrayed our veterans when he voted to "protect the people who made a mess of the VA".

Jones had actually voted to facilitate advancement of more effective, affordable and accountable reform of VA health care delivery by rejecting a plan that Griffin likes to enlarge a wasteful, expensive and ineffective bureaucracy.

Walter Jones has sponsored more legislation to benefit our military than any other member of Congress. Griffin should be ashamed to have told such a lie to the voters whom he hopes might vote for him on June 7.

In my letter, I thanked Mr. Needham for correcting Taylor Griffin's largest whopper yet of his 2016 Congressional campaign.

Tonight, I am astounded to see Griffin is again running the same lying ad on FOX TV. Now we all have proof that Griffin knowingly and maliciously lies about our congressman Walter Jones' record.

Michael Needham is one of the most prestigious and credible conservatives in Washington, D.C.

Griffin's refusal to accept correction from Mr. Needham will cost him in his future profession as a lobbyist and as a congressman — if 3rd District Republicans were to be so foolish as to elect a proven liar to Congress.

Griffin appears confused, believing voters are so stupid that he can prosper with Hillary Clinton-type lies in a Republican primary election.

We need to take Mr. Needham’s advice and vote to keep an honest man representing us in Congress. Vote for Walter Jones on June 7.
