Ron Paul has clearly not thought this through, who would build the roads?

From article.
This does not mean that all taxation is theft. There could still be sales taxes, tariffs, user fees and a multitude of other ways to generate income for government. In fact, that’s what makes up about 60% of Federal government revenues today. Only 40% of government revenue comes from the income tax to begin with. - See more at: https://alibertarianfuture.com/big-government/taxes-big-government/watch-ron-paul-say-taxation-theft-national-television/#.dpuf

Wrong, it most certainly does.

Those are still forms of public capital. Roads should be paid for through private capital.

You know the Romans had a good idea. They planted olive trees along the roads they built. Then they granted ownership of those trees to local nobels in exchange for those nobels paying for the upkeep of that section of road.

So what could be planted on our rights of ways? Hemp? Switchgrass? Medicinal marijuana? Solar power? Maybe solar powered wifi? I wouldn't mind paying the equivalent of the gas tax to have free wifi while driving down the interstate. This is a real issue as more and more legislators are looking at the increasing use of electric cars and saying "We need tax by mile because the gas tax will decrease over time." But leasing of the rights of ways to private entities could make up for any shortfall from effectively no longer having a gas tax.
