Sasha Avonna Bell, a woman leading the drive to sue the Michigan government over the Flint lead poisoning water crisis, has been found shot and killed in her home, M Live reports. She had claimed that her child was poisoned by the water after it was switched from the Detroit water system to the Flint river, (which officials hadn’t applied corrosion inhibitors to).

Another woman, Sacorya Renee Reed, was also found shot and killed in the home. Their bodies were discovered on April 19th.

“Sasha was a lovely young woman who cared deeply for her family, and especially for her young child,” said her attorney Corey M. Stern. “Her tragic and senseless death has created a void in the lives of so many people that loved her. Hopefully, her child will be lifted up by the love and support from everyone who cared deeply for Sasha.”

A 1-year-old was found unharmed in the home. Police haven’t confirmed if it was Bell’s child.

Those supporting Bell’s landmark suit have vowed that it will continue. No charges have been filed in the shooting.

Homicide rate spikes as Flint named third most-violent city in nation

FLINT, MI -- Flint is on track to reclaim the dubious title of most violent city in America.

With three months left in the year, Flint is on pace for one of its deadliest years in history.

The city already has 46 homicides this year, a number far higher than last year's tally that helped make Flint the third most-violent city in America in new FBI statistics released Monday, Sept. 28.

Despite a 10-year low in Flint homicides last year, the city was behind only Detroit and Memphis, Tennessee, for violent crime in the new federal stats.

Flint had a total of 30 homicides last year but is on pace for more than 60 slayings this year.

"Last year was kind of the exception to the rule," said Lt. David Kaiser with the Michigan State Police.

Kaiser believes the Secure Cities Partnership that assigned state police troopers to the city in 2012 contributed to the decline the past few years – there were 67 homicides in 2012, followed by 52 in 2013 – but last year was a bit of an anomaly.

"Last year was kind of a stellar year in terms of numbers," he said. "It's kind of what we look at for a benchmark. One homicide is too many, but last year was a good year as far as numbers are concerned."

Flint Mayor Dayne Walling said it's impossible to predict how many homicides Flint will have by years' end. Decades of violence in the city is a difficult cycle to break, but he believes police will continue making an impact, especially if they are allotted more resources.

Man charged in double homicice at apartment where child was found uninjured


FLINT, MI -- An 18-year-old Flint man has been charged in the shooting death of two women at the Ridgecrest Village Townhouses.

Malek Emmanuel Thornton has been charged and arraigned on two counts of first-degree murder, two counts of open murder, and felony firearm, according to a news release from the Flint Police Department.

Flint police were called to the 2600 block of Ridgecrest Drive at the Ridgecrest Village Townhouses around 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 19 for a shooting. Sacorya Renee Reed, 19, and Sasha Avonna Bell, 19, were discovered dead inside the home.

A 1-year-old child was also found inside the home and was uninjured. The baby was taken by Child Protective Services at the scene.

The childrens' biological grandparents had to go through the process of getting into the foster system because that was the only way Virginia CPS would let them have the children.

Also he is a leftist. He did great work on Fahrenheit 9/11, and I really liked most of Bowling for Columbine, but a lot of his other stuff is ok on some fronts but very misleading on others. Fahrenheit 9/11 did expose the Saudis but didn't really do much more than show the friendship between the Bush family and the Saudis, they didn't really go so far as to suggest that anybody but the Saudis were involved in the attack. Up until a few months ago, I thought that was a pretty hardcore thing to expose - but now the establishment seems to be using it as a political card so apparently that isn't something they were intent on necessarily hiding forever.

This is actually the seed for a great idea. Since so many black folk seem to think whitey is the reason they are dying in droves, remove all crackers from Flint and see what results. That is to say, when the murder rate goes up, how will this be spun into "whitey's fault"? I would like to see some truly clever black creativity come to the fore on this one. Just how far out there are they willing to go?
