Seven weeks from today, voters decide who will be the 3rd Congressional Districtís party nominees.

And for the second consecutive election cycle, U.S. Rep. Walter B. Jones is in a tough fight to secure again whatís been his since 1994.

According to campaign finance disclosure reports filed covering the first quarter of 2016, Jones outraised his rivals by bringing in $169,725.32, well more three times what repeat challenger ó former Treasury Department aide and consultant Taylor Griffin ó pulled in over the same period.

Jones also maintained a significant and roughly equivalent advantage in cash on hand going into April, as well.

However, to use a football analogy, if Jones sports a traditional run-first offense, Griffin represents an air-raid strategy. Being behind, financially, means a lot less when a few folks can turn around and write you $2,700 checks. Griffin has those supporters.

His Washington, D.C. and Wall Street network of support that stuck with him in 2014 and through the current cycle has remained true.
