"Just intellectual arguments" and "just choose from what works."

President Barack Obama downplayed the differences between capitalism and communism, claiming that they are just “intellectual arguments.”

He urged those at a town hall event in Buenos Aires, Argentina on Wednesday to “just choose from what works.”

Obama said, “So often in the past there’s been a sharp division between left and right, between capitalist and communist or socialist.”

“And especially in the Americas, that’s been a big debate, right? Oh, you know, you’re a capitalist Yankee dog, and oh, you know, you’re some crazy communist, you know, that’s going to take away everybody’s property. And I mean, those are interesting intellectual arguments, but I think for your generation, you should be practical and just choose from what works.”

Obama then said, “You don’t have to worry about whether it neatly fits into socialist theory or capitalist theory. You should just decide what works.”

I don't think he even understands what free market capitalism is.

The very concept is well outside of his statist realm:

1,000,000 pages of regulation
and 65,000 pages of tax code
fiat currency system
license, permit, and registration
wage and price controls
contraband
state employees and contracts
international trade agreements

And if you come from a perspective that ANY such intervention in the economy is good...
then really there is no difference...

state regulated "capitalism"
state socialism
state communism

its all just semantics at that point.

He's right... what difference does it make?

But he understands that he doesn't want Americans thinking about the difference. Otherwise we might figure out why capitalism always works, but we aren't working.

The president’s remarks betrayed the profound philosophical differences between America’s liberal elites — who are deeply sympathetic with the aims and methods of socialism — and most of the rest of us. The evils and excesses that socialists like Obama forever ascribe to “capitalism” are in fact the result of mingling socialism and capitalism, producing a hybrid form of government and economy called “corporatism.” Corporatism, though, is inherently unstable; it distorts the workings of the free market and creates political pressure for more socialism as a remedy.

Capitalism is routinely condemned for its alleged amorality, while socialism will furnish the high-minded morality absent from capitalism. As Obama told his Argentine audience:

You have to be practical in asking yourself, How do you achieve the goals of equality and inclusion, but also recognize the market system produces a lot of wealth and goods and services and innovation and it also gives individuals freedom because they have initiative, depending on the social issues you are trying to address, what works? What you’ll find is the most successful societies and economies are the ones that are rooted in a market-based system but also realize a market does not work by itself. It has to have a social and moral and ethical and community basis.

Sadly, President Obama’s misinformed views are not exceptional in 21st-century America. Large numbers of Americans have been persuaded that the free market — i.e., economic freedom — does not work and must be managed by highly-intelligent, omnicompetent overlords. In other words, like the president, they believe in socialism, whether or not they want to call it by that name.

they believe in socialism, whether or not they want to call it by that name.

that's it right there, first step is to recognize

WE ALREADY LIVE IN A COMMUNIST CONCENTRATION CAMP

every minute detail of our economy is highly regulated and planned from the top down
any step you take to move away from "the system" will invariably result in a statutory offense

“The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of “liberalism,” they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened. I no longer need to run as a Presidential Candidate for the Socialist Party. The Democratic Party has adopted our platform.” -- Norman Mattoon Thomas, Socialist Party Presidential Candidate in 1940, 1944 and 1948, co-founder of the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU).

Wow, our country has absolutely no values at all.

Obama: Do whatever works. If you see a hot girl, first try to seduce her(free market), if that don't work just take it(socialism/communism/dictatorship). You know be practical, end result is the same, either way you got what you wanted, and isn't that all that really matters.
