Seen more discussion now of the blimp name so here's a poll.

It is multiple choice - pick the ones that are acceptable to you or that you like.

If you care especially that the word be either Liberty or Freedom also check one of those boxes to show your preference - if you don't care especially if it's for example either "Liberty One" or "Freedom One" then either check both, or leave both blank.

Voted for "Freedom One", but also like "Liberty Belle".

They're supposed to. You can pick more than one - the choices aren't mutually exclusive.

Why make it so convoluted. Just do Freedom One or other. If other does not get 50%, we are done.

How about waiting for Liberty Political Advertising to ask us to name it?

What another Romney straw poll?
Just kidding.....

troyd1: it's multiple choice, meaning you can select as many as you like.

This way if you like "Air Force Ron" and "Spirit of Freedom" but none of the others you can check
X "Air Force Ron"
X Use the word: "Freedom"
X "Spirit of Liberty/Freedom"

It's a built in way to select the most popular concept, not just the most popular individual name. As the majority of people may be fine with anything that uses "Freedom" and HATE "Air Force Ron" but if all those people have a slight preference and they split their vote amongst say "Freedom", "Freedom One", and "Freedom Rising", it would appear as if "Air Force Ron" is the most popular when in actuality it may be the most popular individual selection, but only the second most popular concept behind anything that has the word "Freedom"

I'd just say "Ron Paul Blimp". It's already in use, both by us and by the media. It's straight to the point and describes (in an admittedly mundane way) just what it's about. And trying to change it now might simply be too much work to be worth it.

Nah, identifying the real name gives the media another story to run. Just like Mitt's announcing that he's Mormon and that it doesn't matter led to a 24-hour Mitt news orgy. The naming of Freedom One will add some more news coverage. Some MSMers may even write stories about how the naming process transpired, if it's a particularly slow news day.

Liberty Political Adversiting just needs to make sure they send out a press release when the blimp is named....but I'm sure they're already planning that.

You don't think a big blimp with his name on both sides helps name recognition enough? ;)

We've gotta sneak some more hidden messages in there than just filling people's heads with Ron Paul's name. Might as well associate his name with freedom, since that's at the core of his message and people respond to 'freedom' more than 'liberty'. I'm not sure the general public knows what liberty means.

This poll is screwed. The percentages add up to way over 100.

It's what is known as "Approval Voting". You can vote for all the alternatives that are acceptable to you.

I talking about when they talk on radio or TV or write it up. The more times his name is mentioned the more it sinks in.

"In todays news Ron Paul's blimp 'Ron Paul One' protested excessive taxation by dumping tea into the harbor..."

For the Ron Paul One phrase they would probably completely leave out the name. It just doesn't roll of the tongue. It also sounds kinda cheesy IMHO.

The idea of the tea party is freedom from taxation. Not liberty from taxation. Tea party aside, Liberty or Freedom is ok with me. It was suggested on another thread that Liberty may associate with Libertarian, which may be a turnoff to some. Freedom, however, is universal. Plus we may get a few votes of people in the clink :)

Wait, just one question? Does this poll have any effect on what the blimp will actually be named? I guess if the blimp organizers don't name, that's what we can still call it on the internet, and at blimp rallies.

The ones with "Liberty" or "Freedom" in them sound too much like brand names for ladies' sanitary products.

The Ron Paul Blimp is what it is being called. It gets his name out there better than any name on the list of choices. Ron Paul Blimp is the best name.

Again....??

It will be called "The Ron Paul Blimp"

That is what it has been called, what the website is, and what it actually is.

A poll on this website will not change what people already call it and will continue to call it.

I think Air Force Ron is great, and it's my favorite choice for a name.
But I also think Freedom One (more than Liberty One) would resonate, not only with us here in America, but also the rest of the world. Everybody knows what freedom is! So Freedom One is a very positive name.....:)
