Hypocrisy is @TedCruz (https://twitter.com/tedcruz) shaming #Iowacaucus (https://twitter.com/hashtag/Iowacaucus?src=hash) goers for missing votes after missing #AudittheFed (https://twitter.com/hashtag/AudittheFed?src=hash) http://bit.ly/1KgXUWR (https://t.co/c2oqutrNzh)

This is pretty crazy! Very stupid move by the Cruz camp, especially considering Cruz has missed over 20 percent of his votes!

Some online sites are picking up on Rand's response. http://conservativeintel.com/2016/01/30/rand-paul-blasts-ted-cruz-for-creepy-iowa-mailer/

Interestingly enough, this has a little bit of an NSA vibe to it. Many voters are already posting this is a huge turn-off. Can't believe he did this... Very stupid. Obama did this in 2008, but will less shamming. This may help Rand a bit.

I totally get the vibe of that letter being a giant guilt trip. "Hey look you are rated at an "F". You suck. How about you go vote this time so you dont suck so bad. Here. Cruz enlightened you to this fact, so just vote for him" It seems super dirty.

Iowa secretary of state just posted this comment and has a great point. Statement from Secretary of State Paul Pate Regarding Misleading Mailer from Cruz for President CampaignDES MOINES – "Today I was shown a piece of literature from the Cruz for President campaign that misrepresents the role of my office, and worse, misrepresents Iowa election law. Accusing citizens of Iowa of a "voting violation" based on Iowa Caucus participation, or lack thereof, is false representation of an official act. There is no such thing as an election violation related to frequency of voting. Any insinuation or statement to the contrary is wrong and I believe it is not in keeping in the spirit of the Iowa Caucuses.
Additionally, the Iowa Secretary of State's Office never "grades" voters. Nor does the Secretary of State maintain records related to Iowa Caucus participation. Caucuses are organized and directed by the state political parties, not the Secretary of State, nor local elections officials. Also, the Iowa Secretary of State does not "distribute" voter records. They are available for purchase for political purposes only, under Iowa Code.” - Paul D. Pate, Iowa Secretary of State

Additionally, the Iowa Secretary of State's Office never "grades" voters. Nor does the Secretary of State maintain records related to Iowa Caucus participation. Caucuses are organized and directed by the state political parties, not the Secretary of State, nor local elections officials.

So if the grades are factual and not made-up, the only way Rafael would have gotten that info is from the State GOP. Cruz just basically made the Republican party of Iowa look bad.

Never even thought about that.. Firing one guy doesn't even make sense to me.. There is no way one person had control of an entire piece of campaign mail like this.. The campaign CLEARLY thought they could get away with this. Didn't even think about them shamming vets that couldn't have participated in a caucus. This has gotta be one of the dumbest moves by Cruz in the entire campaign. Let's hope this doesn't help Trump too much, but helps us.

The Cruz campaign confirmed the mailers had originated from the campaign and said there was nothing inappropriate about the materials.
“These mailers are common practice to increase voter turnout,” said Matt Schultz, the campaign’s Iowa state chairman and a former Iowa secretary of state. “Our mailer was modeled after the very successful 2014 mailers that the Republican Party of Iowa distributed to motivate Republican voters to vote, and which helped elect numerous Republican candidates during that cycle.”

A lot of Cruz supporters say that it's fine for him to miss votes on crucially important conservative issues, because as a mere 1 out of 100 senators, his vote won't make a difference.

Hopefully they follow that line of thinking to its logical conclusion on Monday, when they decide whether or not its worth it for them to be a mere one out of thousands of caucus goers.

Despite the conspiracy theories, the Cruz campaign has confirmed these mailers are theirs and did send them out. (http://journal.ijreview.com/2016/01/252498-said-undecided-iowan-received-controversial-mailer-ted-cruz/)In my view, this is not how you go about convincing people and persuading them. This is a Donald Trump tactic and Cruz’s team should know better. Shaming people into voting is a great way to get them to vote for somebody else if they decide to do so.
Either way, this could turn into one of those things that the media will harp on for the next two days and throw Cruz off message.

Cruz campaign took a tip from the Communist Chinese government on this one.

Chinese citizens are "scored" on their allegiance to the party, their friends and associates, etc in a new "game" that will soon be official state policy.

See here:
http://theantimedia.org/china-just-launched-the-most-frightening-game-ever-and-soon-it-will-be-mandatory/

As if further proof were needed Orwell’s dystopia is now upon us, China has now gamified obedience to the State. Though that is every bit as creepily terrifying as it sounds, citizens may still choose whether or not they wish to opt-in — that is, until the program becomes compulsory in 2020. “Going under the innocuous name of ‘Sesame Credit,’ China has created a score for how good a citizen you are,” explains Extra Credits’ video about the program. “The owners of China’s largest social networks have partnered with the government to create something akin to the U.S. credit score — but, instead of measuring how regularly you pay your bills, it measures how obediently you follow the party line.”

Actually, in many regions in Canada, it seems to be a lot more generous.

In nursing school less than 80% is a failing grade.

That doesn't do much to explain the C- either.

We need to be upvoting these posts to get them to the top so more people see it. Personally, I went to each of of Ted Cruz's posts, expanded all comments, then ctrl+f (to search for text) "sham" (in case the write shame or shaming it does both) then upvote and hit next, etc. Only takes 2 mins.

Doing it now.

Rand's page has 333k likes to Cruz's 25k... lol

I got a call back and voicemail from Cruz campaign apologizing.

But Ted Cruz himself says he refuses to apologize!

"Cruz, who has often joked that mailers "make good kindling," later told reporters that he would not apologize for his campaign's efforts to bring out caucusgoers.

"I will apologize to nobody for using every tool we can to encourage Iowa voters to come out and vote … Iowa, as first in the nation, has an incredibly important role in deciding who the next commander-in-chief of this country will be. We are going to continue to use every tool we can to encourage the men and woman of Iowa to come out, to caucus on Monday night and to stand together as one," Cruz said in Sioux City." http://www.desmoinesregister.com/story/news/elections/presidential/caucus/2016/01/30/iowa-secretary-state-calls-cruz-mailers-misleading/79522560/

Methinks this plant has been exposed.

Post audio, or it didn't happen.

If someone can tell me how to put a voicemail from my iPhone to an audio file on here I'll do it

I googled "download voicemail from iphone free". This was one result: https://imazing.com/features/transfer-voicemail-voice-memos-call-history-notes

Upload audio file to dropbox or somewhere like it, and post link here.

Holy crap I can't believe Ted Cruz literally shot himself in the foot like this on the very last minute. Talk about the KING OF FUMBLES.

This is like Howard Dean level, especially if Cruz finishes severely below his last known polling.

If you guys check out conservative sites that have covered this, Cruz supporters are disappointed and they're shaming their guy. This is pretty shocking that of all things, this is what Cruz goes down for.

I'm just following this now, did anybody use #SHAMEONCRUZ yet?

If I got a letter like that and was not sure if I was going to vote, I would show up and vote against him to give him a big fuck you.

My thinking behind this from Cruz with the flub and Trump sitting out the final debate is the establishment is exposing Rubio. From all the crap I saw in 2012, I just have this hunch that there are big checks being written out to move out of the way. The media push of Rubio in the polls for nothing. I just have this hunch. I hope we are prepared this year in the caucuses to derail the establishment....

Yep - Cruz is now confirmed controlled opposition. Higher turnout will marginalize Rand's numbers.

It is interesting, isn't it? This tactic would be used for a general election - if you scare republicans to the polls they'll probably vote republicans. But in a primary there is no guarantee who they will vote for and sending things out like this are almost certain to not help your results.
It does seem like it was a coordinated effort to help out another campaign and drive their supporters to the polls without making their candidate look bad.

I wouldn't be all that surprised if these were only sent out to people they internally polled and had expressed interest in supporting Rubio.

...maybe I just watch house of cards too much.
