Cruz also said never in his life did he support amnesty, too.

I just read somewhere that he has 1573 "caucus captains". If that is the same as precinct captains then that is unfortunate.

Well, it beats trump getting that number! :)

IMO, they would be calling them precinct captains if that's what they were. Calling them "caucus captains" seems like his campaigns way of spinning things like they usually do.

It sounds like he has an average of 1.96625 strong supporters to organize the caucuses for him in each of the 800 precincts that he's organized.

Which is not really very good.

10k volunteers is concerning. How did this phony get that many people to donate time to him?

There goes Ted being sly again. Captains and "co-captains"? For all we know it could be 900 captains and 900 co-captains. Seems silly to lump them all in unless you're trying to purposefully make your number look larger than it actually is.

Yep. It may technically be true, but it's a tricky way to say it. Not surprising considering who we're talking about.

To someone that didn't know, it might be interpreted that he has 1,800 precincts covered... which is a bigger number than Rand.

But there are only 1,682 precincts in Iowa.

So it doesn't tell us how many precincts have a captain, and how many don't. Is there only one co-captain allowed per precinct... or do some have multiple?

what is the significance of having 1k+ captains... In real terms. I am not wrapping my head around it.

Does that mean, these captains, speak before the vote and try to 'turn' people or ?

please explain.

Cruz just playing word games to fluff up his numbers. If he had better numbers than Rand he would flat out say it.

Cruz also has to wait until Rand says something so he can mimic what he says a couple weeks later.

Yeah, that's part of it. You want to know you have someone there to speak on your behalf before the vote. And it's someone that is from that precinct, speaking to their neighbors. There are definitely undecideds and leaners that can be swayed.

They will also be there to organize for the campaign... greet the known supporters when they arrive, help navigate them through the caucus process, answer questions, make sure they stay until the end and know who to vote for as delegates, etc.

Plus there's the obvious, that each one of those is a committed vote that you can count on showing up. And they should be able to bring a couple friends or family with them.
