Newly disclosed emails show that Libya’s plan to create a gold-backed currency to compete with the euro and dollar was a motive for NATO’s intervention.

The New Year’s Eve release of over 3,000 new Hillary Clinton emails from the State Department has CNN abuzz over gossipy text messages, the “who gets to ride with Hillary” selection process set up by her staff, and how a “cute” Hillary photo fared on Facebook.

But historians of the 2011 NATO war in Libya will be sure to notice a few of the truly explosive confirmations contained in the new emails: admissions of rebel war crimes, special ops trainers inside Libya from nearly the start of protests, Al Qaeda embedded in the U.S. backed opposition, Western nations jockeying for access to Libyan oil, the nefarious origins of the absurd Viagra mass rape claim, and concern over Gaddafi’s gold and silver reserves threatening European currency.

On Dec. 31, the Department of State released a batch of emails from former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s private server. Information contained in those emails confirms shocking information that was first uncovered by TheBlaze TV’s For the Record in April 2014.

In the episode titled “Zero Footprint,” For the Record reported that one of the reasons Western nations had turned against then-Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi was his desire to create a new gold-backed currency for Africa.

Retired U.S. Navy Rear Adm. Charles Kubic told For the Record, “[Gaddafi] was threatening the fiat currencies of both Europe and the United States. There was fear that if this started to take hold, that there would be some very powerful interests that would start to lose a lot of money.”

Emails obtained from Clinton’s private server confirm Kubic’s claim.

Everybody knows Republican leaders largely support military intervention - the trick is to let the people on the left know that their leaders support it too because a lot of them haven't figured it out yet.

Libya was/is a big fat lie.

Gaddafi's son, Saif, currently waits execution for basically being related to Gaddafi. He never even held an official government position but somehow the ICC has him up on war crimes charges. The "legitimate" government of Tripoli, sentenced him to death in abstentia, since they don't have possession of him because another faction of the "legitimate" government(s) of Libya has him jailed.

It's a farce.

And all the hand-joining against ISIS doesn't change a darn thing.

As far as this "gold currency" conspiracy, that may have been one more thing, but really Libya was just too trusting, got rid of their WMD's like morons, and they got robbed. As Saif said, Libya is just a "big piece of cake".

USA looks upon Libya as fast food expecting a fast war and a quick victory, Saif al-Islam Gaddafi, the son of the Libyan leader wanted by the ICC, told RT. But the West will never get what they want, he added.

"Many countries, Iran and North Korea are among them, told us it was our mistake to give up, to have stopped developing long-range missiles and to become friendly with the West. Our example means one should never trust the West and should always be on alert for them it is fine to change their mind overnight and start bombing Libya," said Saif al-Islam Gaddafi.

"One of our biggest mistakes was that we delayed buying new weapons, especially from Russia, and delayed building a strong army. We thought Europeans were our friends; our mistake was to be tolerant with our enemies".

Gaddafi’s son was charged by the International Criminal Court on June 27 for a “state policy aimed at deterring by any means, including lethal force, the demonstrations of civilians against the Gaddafi regime” alongside his father Muammar Gaddafi and his military intelligence chief General Abdullah al-Sanoussi. However the Libyan leader’s son sees the charge differently.

"They do not accuse me of policy, they accuse me of killing people, and everybody knows it. For me to be responsible for killing people was a joke. This would have happened anywhere in the world if people in the street moved towards a military site trying to steal ammunition or arms. Of course the military would prevent them!"
