Liberty is a Flame That Needs Protection by Rand Paul, SuperPAC Ad in Iowa Will Likely Say [UPDATED] (https://reason.com/blog/2016/01/04/liberty-is-a-flame-that-needs-protection)

UPDATE: Crane tells me via email this afternoon that a version of the ad should begin running on Jan. 19. Despite earlier misgivings, mentioned above, he now thinks "Rand is doing much better now with a more libertarian pitch which will fire up the troops for the caucuses. My hope is he surprises people because of his good ground organization and the fact that they will be bringing independents to the caucuses -- they are not polled and tend to support Rand over the other GOP candidates." Crane says PurplePAC will likely try more fundraising for Nevada and South Carolina if he performs well in Iowa.

I wonder how he defines performing well in Iowa? Top 3? Also, no mention of fundraising in NH...

Not enough time with only one week after the Iowa Caucus.

Rand should have done this since the beginning. Actually, he should have just stuck with his pre-2010 talking points.

I see it as - Iowa will be a success if the straw poll at the caucus destroys poll predictions.

Rand has no need to pitch anything but liberty, nobody is going to out neo-con or isolationist the rest of them. Just stick to the thing that separates him in the first place.
He might as well distance himself more than he has already.

The Rand supporting PACs are putting almost all of their money in IA. The PAC lead by the former YAL folks put everything in IA. I think they are hoping for top 2 in IA to boost the campaign.
