FAIRFIELD, Calif. — The pug who was seen on surveillance video being thrown by his owner has been found safe, according to Fairfield police.

“Benny the Pug has been located and is safe,” Fairfield police announced on Facebook Friday.

“He was turned over to Humane Animal Services last night and is currently in their care. He was examined by a local vet and found to be uninjured and in good health.”

A surveillance camera at a home in Fairfield caught the brutal attack on the pug last week. Benny’s owner, believed to be a woman name Brandi Chin, is seen allegedly throwing the pug across a driveway.

The video was posted on Facebook and quickly became viral, prompting a police investigation.

Fairfield Police Department and Humane Animal Services of Solano County were searching for Chin. They believed she was in the Vallejo area in California.

On Friday, Fairfield Police Department said Chin has not been found yet.

“We have completed our investigation of this incident and will be forwarding the case to the Solano County District Attorney’s Office. It is believed the suspect has fled the area and is no longer in Solano County,” Fairfield police wrote.

Did they shoot the dog to ensure their safety? (Looking at the picture, the dog doesn't seem to realize the danger it's in.)

The Solano County District Attorney's Office has filed a felony animal cruelty and abuse charge against a woman who allegedly threw a pug dog to the ground in Fairfield last month.
Fairfield police and district attorney's office investigators arrested Fairfield resident Brandi Chin Wednesday in Vallejo, prosecutors said in a news release.

Fairfield police submitted investigative reports to the district attorney's office Tuesday and requested charges be filed against her.

Chin was captured in a surveillance camera video on Dec. 19 throwing Benny the pug to the ground after a dispute with her boyfriend. Benny hit the ground and rolled over several times.

Law enforcement officials took possession of the dog, who was given to Solano County Humane Animal Services Friday. Police said an exam by a veterinarian determined Benny was not hurt and was in good health.
Police who searched for Chin thought she might have left Solano County.
