The article is mostly about people dropping home internet and using cell phones only.

It’s the end of 2015, and one fact about the internet is quickly becoming clear this year: Americans’ freedom to access the open internet is rapidly dissolving.

...

Many Americans may soon be left with an insecure, surveilled, and capped internet connection dominated by broadband and cellular providers that funnel traffic to the companies they’ve made deals with

The problem is that smartphone internet is not equivalent to home internet. Pew didn’t collect this information, but an unlimited mobile data plan in the United States is increasingly endangered and exceedingly rare. The 3 percent of Americans who have cut their broadband cord in the last two years replaced it with a mobile connection that limits how much they access the internet.

The internet is quickly turning into a handful of gatekeepers who shape the minds of all the people whose information flow thru them. If it comes thru them, it must be true, but if you cant find it on one of these gatekeepers, then it doesnt exist. Pure propoganda.

The stupidification of America continues, and people go for it.

Not to be a sales pitch, but I picked up a Karma device to test. It's unlimited internet, 5mb speed, using Sprint's network. Small little rechargeable device that you can take with you.

It's not perfect in that it only allows you 3 concurrent devices to use, the ping times are slow if you're into gaming, and you need to be in range of a sprint tower. I like it as it's a better price for bandwidth than using my normal per usage cellphone when I'm on the go.

One can use Sprint smart phone as a hotspot and connect up to eight devices. And with 4G LTE it is very fast.

The advantage of karma is the unlimited bandwidth for $50 a month. I can easily eat up that much in bandwidth if I was paying per gig.
