WASHINGTON (WNCN) – A North Carolina congressman literally took a sword to the proposed $1.1 trillion budget he voted against.

Rep. Walter Jones wrote, “Spent last night cutting through 2,000 pages of words, words, words,” along with a photo of him swinging a sword at the document.

JONES VOTES AGAINST $1.1 TRILLION DEFICIT SPENDING BILL

Bill gives a free pass to terrorists and baby killers; fully funds President’s open borders immigration agenda

Dec 18, 2015

WASHINGTON, D.C.--This morning, Congressman Walter B. Jones (NC-3) voted against the $1.1 trillion, 2,009-page omnibus spending bill that does nothing substantive to curb the thousands of Middle Eastern refugees entering the United States. The bill passed the House 316 to 113 and passed the Senate 65-33. It is expected to be sent to President Obama for his signature. Congressman Jones issued the following statement on his vote:

“As the only member of Congress to vote against every debt ceiling increase in the last 12 years, I cannot in good conscience support a bill that makes the most pressing issue facing our country – out of control federal spending – significantly worse.”

“President Obama, party leaders in Washington on both sides of the aisle, and the special interests all supported this bill. And why wouldn’t they? They wrote the bill behind closed doors then dropped it in the dead of night, giving the public less than 57 hours to review its 2,000 pages before it was voted on. It should be no surprise that the bill reflects their priorities, not the people’s.”

“The bill provides a free pass to terrorists trying to enter our country disguised as refugees, and it fully funds the rest of the President’s radical, open borders immigration agenda. It includes hundreds of billions of dollars of more deficit spending, billions of dollars in deficit-financed foreign aid for countries that hate us, billions of dollars for President Obama’s unauthorized wars, funding for Obamacare, and funding for Planned Parenthood’s butchery. It’s also chock full of Christmas goodies for special interests, only a fraction of which we know about at the present time because of the size of the bill and the lack of time given to review it.”

“Once again, the Washington Establishment wins, and the people lose. It’s sickening.”

Congressman Jones has long been a leader in the fight to cut wasteful spending, eliminate the deficit and pay down the debt. Since 2004, Congressman Jones has voted against more spending bills than all but one of his Republican colleagues in Congress.

WASHINGTON

North Carolina Rep. Walter Jones didn’t just oppose Friday’s $1.1 trillion budget deal by voting against it, he brandished a sword in his congressional office Thursday night to cut through the 2,000-page document, expressing disdain for what he later called on Twitter a win for “the Washington Establishment” and loss for “the people.”

On Friday morning, about an hour before the House vote on the budget legislation, Jones put photos up on Twitter of himself preparing to slice into the “omnibus” document at his desk with a sword. The tweets said, “Something is rotten ... in Washington, DC,” and “Spent last night cutting through 2,000 pages of words, words, words.”

The photos also show Jones wearing gloves and a surgical mask on his face while handling papers that appear to be from the legislative document.
