With all of our supporters and grassroots volunteers it looks entirely viable to start a Ron Paul or Paulinian Party as a third party, with all of our supporters now and with the same platform as Ron Paul we could make this the most viable and well supported 3rd party in history....

We need to take over the Republican Party. Ballot access laws are different in all 50 states, and getting a new party on all 50 state ballots is a HUGE job!

Ross Perot tried it and he had billions backing up his effort only to have it destroyed by the Buchanan Brigades, infighting and people looking for fame and glory.

I didn't say we should Run him as a third party candidate I meant for all of the people that supports him that after he is elected we should start a party.

The Libertarian Party is a sick joke. It used to be something significant but it has been taken over by neo-con Republicans.

It would be much easier to take over an established party such as the republican party.

Why create a new party when you can take over an existing one? The revolution is happening, GOP! There's something going on in this country, and it's BIG. It's really BIG!

He is going to win the Republican nomination. After he wins there will be no need for a third party.

At this point, there's no reason to talk about a 3rd party, whether it's joining a current one or making a new one. We could talk about hypothetical 3rd party bids a few months ago, but not now.

We have 1 month to go until the first caucus/primaries. We actually have a shot at this. It's time to buckle down and win this thing.

The Constitution Party thinks it's the government's job to regulate pornography and gambling.. Doesn't sound like the constitution to me.

Much, much better idea to take back the Republican party in my opinion. Many, many people just pull the GOP lever every election. Getting R nominations for State and US Congressional seats is a much better tack, I think. I think it would be extremely difficult to actually elect a signiricant number of people from a third party. Plus, if we can sucessfully steer or influence the GOP, many people's minds may be changed who would otherwise not be exposed to the message.

Why do we need two tyrranical parties? Authoritarianism vs. Freedom makes much more sense -- this is the way it used to be.

No patience, no third party talk, no third party. If Ron Paul goes third party the democrats have a good chance of winning the general election. Ron Paul will not let this happen and would not be forgiven if he did. (remember Nader).

Let me give you another dream. If Ron Paul does not win the nomination, how does Senator Ron Paul GOP sound?

This is not a one punch fight. Ron Paul has started a movement and it is our duty to fight for it. We need more Congressmen like Ron Paul, we need more Senators like Ron Paul, we are closer than ever to getting a president that is almost exactly like Ron Paul *grin*

Don't derail this with third party talk. Look to your fellow forum members as the next generation of politicians and don't derail _them_.

Keep the faith, let this thread die.

I think most people here are talking about how to keep the rEVOLution going beyond the 2008 presidential election. We need to elect local leaders, state leaders, and representatives to the national house and senate. The question is, should this be done through the republican party, through an existing third party, or through a new third party. As I've said, I think the most effective method is likely to take back the Republican party. Ron Paul's gonna win, and we're going to make it happen!! I don't think most people here are talking about Paul himself.

Ross Perot washed his hands of his own party after his second run for President. He had an opportunity to become a real voice for change, but just disappeared. The party was only destroyed because Ross Perot stopped supporting it.

I would never join a party named after a person like "Paulinian Party."

Sorry, I like the man, but I'm not going to give in to hero worship. He only brings a good message -- one with which I happen to agree.

We're going to have a big meeting here in Illinois right after the February 5 primary to talk about this very subject. Some of us want to take the energy of the rEVOLution, whether Ron wins or loses, and use it to elect Ron Paul Republicans at the local, state, and federal level. I would support any of you who organize similar drives/organizations, etc.

We are going to try and work with other groups to do this, as well, including, I hope, the Republican Liberty Caucus, and maybe even other fellow travelers such as the Club for Growth.

I think, that as long as he makes at least third place in Iowa, he will get the nomination. What say you all?

Yeah, if he wins the general election, which I believe he will, I am applying for citizenship. If he loses, I'm moving elsewhere.

:) Jefferson started the Democratic party you know... course that was back when liberal meant someone who stood for liberty, before they fell in love with socialism.
