A Colorado sgt seems to think Colorado is turning/has turned into this:

Thornton Police Sgt. James Gerhardt said he has seen what the drug has done in his state.

“You can be as tight and as regulated as you want at first, but you've jumped into the pools so to speak and that's where they want you,” Gerhardt said.

Gerhardt, who is the sergeant for an undercover drug unit that operates in the Denver Metro area, said legalizing medical marijuana was just the start, and then came recreational use.

Authorities said they’ve seen increases in fatalities and child abuse related to the drug.

“We're going to have to deal with dead drivers on the road. We're going to have to deal with kids hospitalized. We're going to have to deal with all those social problems,” Gerhardt said.

Attorney General Doug Peterson also addressed the impact Colorado’s marijuana legalization is causing in Nebraska.

Peterson asked Gerhardt to talk to state senators and law officers as Nebraska considers expanding its legalization of cannabidiol.

“I think we would be foolhardy not to look at Colorado and look at Colorado closely, and that's why I think it's really important he come,” Peterson said.

The argument for legalization has some parents passionate about the issue.

“Because I want my daughter to access medicine for her epilepsy,” Sheri Lawlor said.

Bellevue Sen. Tommy Garrett, the sponsor of LB 643, said he does not support marijuana for recreational use.

According to his staff, much of Gerhardt’s concerns are addressed in the bill, including no home-grown plants and no smoking the drug or edibles.
Gerhardt said he feels for parents and kids, but legalizing the drug is not the right move.

“We should all band together and argue and push for proper research of cannabis,” Gerhardt said.

Parents said lawmakers have to legalize it first.

“”You know, maybe they will finally find out there is a medicinal benefit to cannabis,” Lawlor said.

Senators are expected to resume the debate when they return in January.

OH MY GAAAWD IT'S THE END OF THE WORLD! BOOGITY BOOGITY! EVIL WEED!!!

What happened to officers who said, "I don't make the laws, I just enforce them. If you don't like it, just change the law."

So weed has been legal for a year and he keeps saying, "We're going to have to deal with..." dead drivers all over the round. Does that mean it hasn't happened yet? Even though it's been legal?

According to this, https://www.leafly.com/news/headlines/one-year-later-the-positives-and-negatives-of-colorados-legal-rec
crime is down, arrests are down, TRAFFIC FATALITIES are down...And $2 million has been saved since there's an 84% drop in MJ related arrests. For someone who works in an UNDER COVER DRUG Unit, are they worried about job security???

Even the Colorado governor seems happy about it:

AND this is from a Governor who was horribly against it even as early as 1 year ago.

So, as a government employee, you cannot advocate for political issues while on the clock, unless it is adverse to your job security or generation of revenue? OK, I got it now!

Absolutely push to further your own agenda but for Heaven's sake be honest about it.

And don't whine like a little girl when you get called on your BS..
