the problem I see is that whether or not hes lying or just making mistakes recalling or whatever, there have been many stories about several different purported lies so thats not great for him..

Really? Like I said in the other thread, this could have been as simple as someone saying to him, "You know, if you want, we could probably get you into West Point and you wouldn't have to pay a dime."

Now, are you telling me that didn't happen? In retelling that story 40 years later, it is entirely plausible that he would have remembered thinking about that decision and deciding that while it sounded nice, his heart was in medicine.

Seriously, I think some of you folks need to stop watching and reading media. They are getting you all caught up and twisted around in nonsense. Rand was wise to defend Carson on this topic.

I don't think its the worst thing somebody has done; but there is no doubt in my mind that he knew he was exaggerating/lying about the truth of the situation. One is an actual offer and the other is the possibility of an offer. I'd be more impressed if he owned up to it.

Take away the word "probably", then. I'm pretty sure this happened and I'm pretty sure he remembered it as a likelihood if he wanted it.

Listen, this is the establishment media trying to sling mud. Rand got it the same way. The whole thing is asinine.

Either Ben Carson is a unicorn or he is an establishment populist honeypot. His whole character and political leanings are an oxymoron. The best part of this thread is using the news letters as an emotional argument that this is a perfectly comparable reason to hate the media because of their bias against "anti establishment" candidates. FYI, Rand Paul has taken basically the same position as "team Carson" on this issue. It's a mountain out of a molehill. Probably a misunderstanding. It's no different from the media claiming Rand "lied" about having a biology degree when he actually dropped out of college and went straight to medical school. Time to stop playing the liberal media's "gotcha" games for them folks and get back on message. Rand does a stupendous job of doing that by pointing out how Marco Rubio's foreign policy is neocon just like Hillary Clinton's foreign policy right in front of a bunch of Hillary Clinton (and Bernie Sanders) supporters! That is how you win a GOP primary people. Find a way to link your opponents to the most likely democratic challenger and attack both at the same time.
