It has to be someone who understands the practicalities of finance as it exists today, in addition to theoretical economics.

It should be someone with a bland, professional. and fairly mainstream background.

This Dino fellow sounds like the right type.

I'd also take look at people in the free-market oriented but mainstream thinktanks (CATO, Club for Growth, etc.) and universities (Chicago, George Mason, etc).

There are plenty of qualified free market academics, but probably not any Austrians (none of them have the practical experience required).

David Stockman (former head of OMB) or John Allison (former head of BB&T). They also work for Fed chairman.
