Racist whites, racist blacks (http://www.cnn.com/2007/LAW/06/28/scotus.race/index.html), and Dems (http://www.cnn.com/2007/POLITICS/06/29/democrats.debate.ap/index.html) react negatively, as expected.

"The way to stop discrimination on the basis of race is to stop discriminating on the basis of race," Roberts wrote.

Basically, the court tried to beat their arguments with logic, and apparently they didn't get it.

Next up - set asides for every ethnic group on the face of the earth except European-Americans.

Go Supremes!

I knew Roberts was going to be awesome as soon as he opposed Bush on some issues. A non-lackey, critical thinking Supreme Court judge, FTW.

Not that fond of Roberts... pleased with his ruling on 4th amendment and consent to search.

Glad to hear about AA being set back. I am really tired of the power structure building this assumption into people's brains that other "races" are not capable of holding their own without special help. It is absolute b.s. and truley a descendent of 19th century social darwinism, much like the "prosperity gospel" today.

But to be honest, I don't agree with forced integration either. Ask some of the older "colored" folks who were educated in their communities by their neighborhood and civic leaders if they believe their children are receiving a better education in the neo-liberal, white elitist system.

The other idea that irks me is that we need forced integration or we would all seperate into "sectarian" camps. We are in sectarian camps, we call them subdivision... tract housing... master planned communities whatever your term might be. If a white person decides they want to be around other white people only, they will do so. The same goes for every other ethnicity without exception.

As for my daughter, she will be raised with the children in our town without regard to color, language, or religion because we are all in this together and because God loves all (your pronoun of choice) children equally. If you believe that a valid judgement of character can be built around the color of one's skin, your misery is of your own making.

Really though, would you descriminate either for or against a person simply because their nose was different? Because they have a unibrow? And if you did... your loss, not theirs.

Yes but is he on the conservative side or the socialist side? luckily the conservative side. i like him for the same reasons i liked ashcroft, he was not a bush croney. whether or not he's that great, he won't follow "agendas", but yea, i'd much rather have a true conservative in than a bunch of neocons anyday.
