So I just saw an interview where Gary Johnson stated that he "might" vote for Rand Paul except that he (Rand) is for building a fence on the southern border. I have never heard Rand say anything of the sort and when I try to go to his campaign web site, I basically only get a donation page. Someone help me out on this topic? Thanks in advance...

Gary Johnson sucks. Rand Paul is at single digits because he did not come out strong against illegal immigration. At least that's the general perception.

Rand wants to secure the border now to stop the illegal immigration then figure out a way to assimilate the illegals here especially with work permits but I've never heard him say build a fence.

Rand should just go on the news and say he will build a bigger wall than Trump. That is all Trump voters care about.

Here he says that we should build a fence! Did not know that one and I guess that is just one more area where we disagree....

Yes, Rand has called for increased security on the southern border, including more fencing.

June 19, 2013 6:46 PM @ANDREWSTILESNRO The Senate on Wednesday voted 61–37 to table an amendment to the*immigration-reform bill*that would have significantly strengthened the bill’s border-security and enforcement requirements.*The so-called Trust but Verify*amendment, offered by Senator Rand Paul (R., Ky.),*would have given Congress, and not the Department of Homeland Security, the ultimate*authority to determine if the*border is effectively secure. It*also included*enhanced security measures, such as requiring a double-layer fence to be completed within five years, as well as*a number of other triggers*that must*be implemented before illegal immigrants could be awarded legal status.*“We desperately need immigration reform—but part of fixing the system is fixing our broken borders,” Paul said before the vote.

Unfortunately you and jmdrake above are right. The media has got the country so afraid that this is the most popular position to those who rely on FOX etc.. People these days are afraid that their own shadow might be a"terrorist"! I take Ron's position on this and almost everything....

sort of.

He has said it is an either or...if we're going to hand out American benefits like candy on halloween, then yes, he wants a wall. But, if we're going to quit handing them out, then he views a wall as unnecessary.

Ron voted for funding a fence. Although he seems to have mixed feelings about fences, which is understandable.

I think the problem with Rand is that he lacks the wisdom and experience of his father. That is the main reason why many of us Ron Paul supporters have issues with him on some things. In time he should come around. I mean hasn't history told us that building a fence will do very little to help the problem? I think so...

Obviously this is something that I was not aware of pertaining to the good DR. Seems like there may be more to it than this but I will take your word until I find different.

Voted YES on building a fence along the Mexican border. (Sep 2006)

Rand supports building the fence, which is definitely a good thing. Open borders is part of the agenda of the neocons/globalists.

Of course I did. Like I said previously, he did vote for a fence, but he has mixed feelings on it. Bottom line, about the same as I have heard from Rand from a policy position.

No mixed feelings. He explained that their was something in the bill that he voted for that he supported but it was not the fence...

I also would like how Rand views the immigration backlog. There are about 4 million people who've been in line for years and done their paper work, but never got an answer from the government. :(

By the way, I'd check how this former Gubernatorial candidate from Arizona named JL Mealer would deal with the immigration deal: have "Immigration Motels". :o

I'm not sure why Ron voted for that, since he's publicly spoken against having a border fence since that time in his presidential campaigns. This bill only calls for fences in a few select locations though. So that might be part of it.

Based classic Ron Paul videos.

As for Rand it seems like a flip flop because I remember him saying something like "Walls keep people in as well as out" or something multiple times.

thats his preference is no wall.

but he has said many times as long as we hand out american citizenships to illegals like candy, that we need to have an alternate means of reducing those citizenships....aka, a wall, possibly.
