Griffin's fundraising has come mostly from DC/NY finance/lobbyist types. He has contributions from the biggest hedge funders in the industry (John Paulson - $11.3B net worth, Paul Singer - $2B net worth, Seth Klarman - $1.5B net worth, etc.). Wouldn't be surprised if Griffin gets his own SuperPAC.
