According to Massie,

There were three candidates running for speaker - McCarthy, Chaffetz, and Webster.

Webster would've won the contest, but leadership didn't want him, so cancelled the election.

Webster is much more popular than the media lets on; he's getting blacked out, imagine that.

Leadership doesn't like Webster because:
1. he will actually change the way government is working - for the better
2. he won't be the big GOP fundraiser that Boehner was (apparently that's why they like Ryan so much)
