On Wednesday night, Fox News host Megyn Kelly reported on a “disturbing new twist” in the story of Ahmed Mohamed, the Texas teenager who became an overnight celebrity after officials at his high school took precautions and treated his homemade clock as a possible hoax bomb.

Kelly reported that a controversial 9/11 conspiracy theory Facebook post from Mohamed’s father, Mohamed Elhassan Mohamed, first caught her attention.

Reporter Trace Gallagher said it appears the dad operates two different Facebook pages. On his personal page, he reported, the elder Mohamed wrote about how “killing without rightness” is prohibited by Islam. But there’s also apparently an Arabic Facebook page that also appears to be run by Elhassan Mohamed.

“There’s also an Arabic Facebook page for the National Reform Party, a political party started by Elhassan Mohamed, bearing a similar profile picture and address,” Gallagher explained. “Only, this webpage is much more active and the tone is very different, including a 14-minute conspiracy theory clip on the 9/11 terrorist attacks and a post that shows the smoking World Trade towers, describing as a U.S.-sponsored hoax to launch a world war against Islam and Muslims.”

You can watch the video in question here.

Gallagher also noted that Elhassan Mohamed has “repeatedly run for president of Sudan despite living near Dallas.”

The Irving District maintains it has information that could provide crucial context to the now infamous clock incident, but are unable to speak out without the permission of Mohamed’s parents because he is a minor.

He may have informally run for the head of Sudan (is twice "repeatedly"?) but his name and that of his party was never actually on the ballot. Islamists would not have liked his platform anyways.

Neither he nor his party actually appeared on the ballot. But Mohamed ran again in 2015, promising to negotiate lifting the sanctions on Sudan, ratify human rights treaties, and repeal laws against converting from Islam. (The Sudan Tribune, based in Paris, ran a story on his platform.)

“This can be done easily. You put laws that conform to international conventions on human rights that would achieve social justice and assert individual freedoms. All laws that restrict freedoms will be abolished,” said Mohamed El-Hassan who is running on the National Reform Party (NRP) ticket.

On terrorism, El-Hassan accused the government of encouraging fundamentalist groups which thrived under the military rule of president Omer Hassan al-Bashir.

“We will have a moderate view of religion. Anyone who breaches [that view] and harms people will be swiftly dealt with by law,” he said.

On the apostasy law, El-Hassan said that it is no longer relevant and will repeal it stressing that no one can be forced to adopt a faith he does not believe in.

He also expressed willingness to appoint a female or a non-Muslim Vice President should he ascend to presidency.

His positions make it harder for Fox and the Blaze to try to portray him as a radical Muslim Jihadist.

It is a twist, but what makes it disturbing?

Also, notice how she writes that on his English language page he says, "'killing without rightness' is prohibited by Islam," and then says that his Arabic page has a different tone than that, implying that it would be in favor of killing without rightness. But then none of the details she gives about that other page support that.

They also don't say who made the posts. It may have been a visitor's post.
