this was overshadowed by Oregon. but there will be calls from Carly and Jeb for more boots on the ground there. Rand should propose complete pull out, its a lost cause.

Sucks, C-130's are very nice airplanes. The politics of the middle-east are definitely irrational. How much has changed over the past 15 years ? A lot, yet almost nothing.

If Obama had ended the "good war" he escalated, why are Americans still giving their lives and limbs in Afghanistan?

WASHINGTON -- Eleven people, including six U.S. service members, were killed early Friday when a U.S. Air Force C-130J transport plane crashed in Afghanistan.
The plane crashed at Jalalabad Airfield in eastern Afghanistan at about midnight local time.
A spokesman for the 455th Air Expeditionary Wing at Bagram Airfield in Afghanistan said six U.S. service members who comprised the plane's crew died, along with five civilian passengers.

This happened two days after Taliban captured key city Kunduz:

Some terrible news broke in Afghanistan on Monday news: The Taliban had captured the city of Kunduz, Afghanistan's fifth-largest city (http://www.nytimes.com/2015/06/22/world/asia/taliban-and-afghan-government-dispute-status-of-kunduz.html) and home to about 300,000 people. Kunduz is the provincial capital of Kunduz province in northern Afghanistan; the city is the first provincial capital the Taliban has managed to take in 14 years.

It is mind boggling, why Instead of siding with largest democracy in the world , US supports and gives billions in aid to military dictators of Pakistan. Unless the slogan of supporting democracy is really just a slogan. In last Afghan Jihad, US and its Islamic/Jewish alliance of "people of the book" waged Jihad against "infidel" Russia-India alliance. The whole foreign aid and policy is quite illogical. With a Muslim POTUS in the White House now, policy dynamic is probably more even convoluted now.

I'd give 50:50 chances this is a cover story; that the plane was an empty drone and the 6 US soldiers were actually bombed in Syria by the Russians the day prior.

So folks in Afghanistan,, who were the legitimate Government of Afghanistan after the Russian invasion failed,, and before the US invasion began,, are fighting foreign invaders.

I would say their refusal to be subjugated is admirable.

So, what's the cost, I wouldn't mind trying freedom out sometime in my life. It sounds like it'd be an interesting change.
