Both Trump and Carson are peaceniks compared to the media’s favorites

What explains the surge of the political outsiders?

The people everyone hates – the Washington elites – hate both Trump and Carson. And, these days, that is good enough for a very sizable chunk of the American people.

Rand and Trump should be natural allies, but Rand's temper got the best of him. Can't stand Cruz, but he's played his cards much better.

Rand and Trump should be natural allies...?
Not really, many of Trump's supporters are too uneducated to notice anything positive about Rand.

"Outsider" says two things- it says "this mess isn't my fault!"

It also says, "I have no real experience."

Then you get the "tough guys" who try to "out- tough" each other. "See- he's a a wimp! I know know how to protect you! (nevermind how many $trillion it will cost and likely wars it will lead to). "My defense budget will be WAY bigger than theirs will be!"

Natural allies? I'm not feeling it. I'm not seeing much in common.

Rand and Trump should be natural allies

Why? Certainly not because of policy. Trump is the most liberal Republican running by far, and Rand is the most conservative by far.

Eisenhower had no real experience but he turned out to be on the best.

Trump is the opposite of Rand in both of those areas.

No, he wasn't near as qualified as Taft.
