The Kentucky county clerk facing potentially stiff penalties for refusing to issue same-sex marriage licenses has been married four times, raising questions of hypocrisy and selective application of the Bible to her life.

The marriages are documented in court records obtained by U.S. News, which show that Rowan County Clerk Kim Davis divorced three times, first in 1994, then 2006 and again in 2008.

She gave birth to twins five months after divorcing her first husband. They were fathered by her third husband but adopted by her second. Davis worked at the clerk's office at the time of each divorce and has since remarried.

Davis has described her desire to strictly adhere to the Bible in stark terms and thus far has shown no sign of bending to court orders on same-sex marriage. She said Tuesday she fears going to hell for violating "a central teaching" of the Bible if she complies with the orders.

10 To the married I give this command (not I, but the Lord): A wife must not separate from her husband.
11 But if she does, she must remain unmarried or else be reconciled to her husband. And a husband must not divorce his wife.
1 Corinthians 7:10-11 NIV

But ofc, the bible rules are only applied very selectively to exclude those people over there and leave me just leave me alone. We don't want anyone prying into our personal life and judging our behavior at the govt offices. Just do it for the mundanes and let me be :)

And if anyone was still wondering what her reasoning is, is it constitutional or religious based? just read her quote below

The candidates for Governor should promise they won't enforce any laws with penalties for people who do what she did.

If she really believed that marriage was under God's authority, she would have never issued marriage licenses to begin with.

And while they are at it, they should also promise not to prosecute anyone who was denied of getting a marriage license from state level tax evasion charges. Why collect the dirty, ******y monies of those nasty, sinful, god hating people.

Bevin says he supports her. Also he has called for getting government out of marriage. Hope he wins.

Exactly. The was issuing marriage licenses under the state authority before the ruling and now its God's authority after the supreme court ruling.

The video with actually captured the woman saying "under God's authority" is below. The first video was just someone else saying the quote and not Kim Davis herself. Nobody has yet to suggest it, but the video below captured the actual quote for anyone who thinks the media is putting words into her mouth

Before the illegal supreme court decision, things were done the way she wants them done. Since the decision was illegal, I don't think anything should change, and it would be good if governors made that happen by refusing to enforce some laws.
