Congressmen want more food freedom, less regulation

If you want Rep. Jared Polis (D-Boulder) and Rep. Thomas Massie, a Republican from Kentucky to agree on something, all you have to do is put a steak in front of them -- but first, you have to make sure that steak was never inspected by the USDA.

Polis and Massie came together Friday to munch on steak and drink raw milk at Jezebel's restaurant in Denver. They're promoting a series of bills designed to lessen regulations and restrictions on certain foods, including beef, milk, kombucha and hemp.

"These are decisions -- what do you put in your own body? What's a more intimate decision than that? It really should be entirely up to people," Rep. Polis said. "It should be up to the person. You shouldn't have the federal government telling you what you can and can't eat."

Finally some bipartisanship that doesn't involve everyone in government coming together to strip more rights or wealth away from the American people.

Although milk, hemp smoothie, and steak sounds kind of weird to eat together.

And I don't know WTF kombucha is but we should be free to eat it.

I love Kombucha Tea. I wish I had the time to make it myself because it is so expensive at Whole Foods :(

Yeah, most often they come together precisely to screw us another quantum into the ground, after which there is lots of smiling and the sucking of each others' jagons.

It is a fungal thing that grows in vinegar. I've had the "mushrooms" grow in my cider vinegar bottles. You them put them in cider and they metabolize it into something kind of weird tasting, but full of nutrients. Naturally, some claim it is a universal cure-all and attribute to it all manner of bunnies and light miracles. I don't buy most of that nonsense, but I see no reason for regulating it. Hey FDA, regulate THIS, you imbeciles.

Sheesh.
