Rep. Dave Brat warned this week that the U.S. Chamber of Commerce is trying to nullify voters in districts around the country by working to kick conservative Republican lawmakers out of office for threatening the agenda of the big business group.

Instead of "pushing through Em-Im Bank reauthorization, and delivering cheap labor to big corporations via amnesty for illegal immigrants," the chamber should help businesses fight burdensome government over-regulation, said Brat in an interview with the Washington Examiner. Brat is a freshman Republican from Virginia who defeated House Majority Leader Eric Cantor in the 2014 GOP primary.

Members of the House Freedom Caucus have opposed House Speaker John Boehner's agenda and thwarted the Chamber of Commerce's political priorities, so the chamber plans to funnel money into primary campaigns to defeat the upstart representatives, a Politico article detailed last month. But Brat said the business group's priorities are way off track.

"I wish they were concerned with the true opponents of economic growth and that's the Democrats, not us," he said. He also wondered if the chamber has "our children's future in mind, or K Street power brokers?"

Brat said two of the biggest goals for the chamber are reauthorizing the Export-Import Bank and legalizing undocumented immigrants.

"The chamber wants two prizes, even though the vast majority of Americans oppose both," he said. "The chamber will spend piles of money to punish members voting with, and for, their constituents, to protect the status quo."
...
"The U.S. Chamber calls itself 'pro-growth,' but don't be confused," Brat wrote on his Facebook page. "Their agenda is pro-growth of government, not the economy."

Brat seems like he's doing a good job for the most part. He's solid on economics. A little hawkish for my taste, but much better than the norm
