About

Jonathan Stickland is a Conservative Christian Republican currently serving in the Texas State House for District 92. He supports limited government, transparency, limiting regulation, and most importantly wants to

represent the voters, not the lobbies.

Jonathan was born in Plano, Texas in 1983. At age 5, his family moved to Hurst, Texas and his parents still live in the same house today. He attended schools in the Birdville School District before getting his GED. He spent time at Tarrant County College and Parkland College studying sales and marketing. Jonathan currently runs his own oil and gas consulting business. He works with many local oil and gas companies assisting in data management, on-location oversight, marketing and sales of new exploration opportunities, and current producing interests. Being in business for himself allows Jonathan the time to do the things he feels truly defines him, his family and his faith.

Jonathan has been married to his wife Krissy since 2006 . They have two beautiful daughters, Andie Michelle (7) and Carlie Anne (4). Family is the core of Jonathan’s life both personally and politically. He and his family have been members of First Baptist Church of Hurst since 2008. Jonathan is a member of the Church’s One Life Group, softball team, choir, and also helps teach 5th and 6th grade boy’s Sunday school.

Jonathan’s strong family values and conservative roots were an integral part in his voting record during the 83rd Legislative Session. Jonathan has been awarded 100% scorecards from Empower Texans, the Texas Eagle Forum, and Concerned Women for America. Jonathan was also ranked as the most conservative Representative of the 83rd session by Professor Mark Jones of Rice University.

As a freshman in the Texas House, Jonathan passed many pieces of groundbreaking legislation. House Bill 2268 was the first law passed in the nation protecting individuals email and electronic privacy from search without a warrant on the state level. Jonathan made national headlines with the passage of this bill that was signed into law on June 14, 2013.

\Jonathan is adamantly pro-life and believes it is part of the government’s role to protect the unborn lives of children. He was honored to help author House Bill 2, which restricted abortions after 20 weeks, and made abortion clinics adhere to stricter rules that protect Texas women. This was a huge victory for the pro-life movement and Jonathan was proud to be a part of it.

Jonathan fought for military families by authoring House Bill 202. This bill allows children of active duty service members to receive excused absence days for a student to visit with a parent, stepparent, or guardian. Additionally, it protects schools by not penalizing them for allowing students to be absent in such situations. Jonathan rallied a large bi-partisan effort in order to help the military families of Texas.

Jonathan co-authored House Bill 5 which relates to public school accountability, including assessment, and curriculum requirements. He also helped pass House Bill 4 that ensures our Texas water supply will be guaranteed funding at low interest rates. In addition to passing important legislation, he also served on both the Committee on County Affairs and the Committee on Special Purpose Districts.

Jonathan was extremely proud to serve and represent the people of District 92. Jonathan promised to “be the most conservative Representative of the 83rd session”and he did exactly what he said he was going to do. Representative Stickland looks forward to serving District 92 in the 84th legislative session after the 2014 elections.
