CJ Grisham is an entirely liberty minded candidate. He has been a great friend to other Texas Liberty candidates. He is a true liberty activist.
CJ gained national attention when he was arrested by the Temple police department while legally open carrying a rifle down a country road with his son. He went on to found Open Carry Texas, which made open carry a political hot topic. Bottom line, CJ Grisham is the reason any open carry bill was passed this session.
CJ strongly supported Jonathan Stickland's HB 195 Constitutional carry bill, which unfortunately did not pass.
Senator Troy Fraser is not running for reelection, so this is an open seat. It is a solidly Republican district.
CJ has a lot of statewide grassroots appeal, if he can generate that enthusiasm into fundraising, he may very well win this seat.
District 24 comprises the following counties: Bandera, Bell, Blanco, Brown, Burnet, Callahan, Comanche, Coryell, Gillespie, Hamilton, Kerr, Lampasas, Llano, Mills, San Saba and Taylor (part) and Travis (part).
Key cities in the district include Abilene, Brownwood, Belton, Fredericksburg, Killeen, Kerrville, Marble Falls, and Temple. It also contains two major military installations, Fort Hood near Killeen, and Dyess Air Force Base in Abilene.
