There's a difference between commutation and pardon. I think commutation means "we'll let the rest of the sentence go". Pardon is more like "we're sorry you were ever sent to jail in the first place".

Local news outlets reported that at one time in the mid 1990's, Barry Scott and her husband had claimed to be anti-drug activists (http://www5.vindy.com/news/2001/oct/23/youngstown-scotts-to-face-charges-after-police/), prior to both being arrested for crack cocaine possession. Maybe she claimed to be black too?

For a change, good move by SWC. There seem to be many cases of people introduced to vicious prison cycle after initial non-violent offenses and many of them don't recover.

Then there are less talked about other factors that can turn some prisoners into preys.
