On Wednesday, Maine Governor Paul LePage signed a "constitutional carry" bill into law that allows any lawful gun owner over the age of 21 to carry a concealed handgun without first being required to obtain a permit.

Good news. Good work Sen. Eric and other Mainers.

The law also makes it so that people have to tell police they are carrying a firearm. Does that apply to only those without a permit, or does it apply to everyone?

Hooray. Giving back a right to the citizens that they already were supposed to have.

At least we have one positive story, for every 100 negative stories of government overreach. Maybe one day we can bring that down to one good story for every 10 government overreaches.

That is awesome.

What a damn shame NH is saddled with that idiot, Hassan.

Keith, what can we do to make this happen in NH?

What is the current status of Constitutional Carry in NH?

NH is the last holdout, once having done that, you could safely travel all of northern New England with a concealed weapon and not have to worry about "permitting".

The NH gun activists likely wouldn't have allowed such a bill to pass in NH, anyway, unfortunately. The bill that Gov. Hassan vetoed would have given NH the best Constitutional Carry law in the nation. It was a clean bill, without any attachments.

Lots of NH liberty activists are too principled, and to some, that hurts us. For example, NH still doesn't have large casinos, while Maine has I beleive 2 and is thinking about expanding to 4? The first casino just opened in MA with more too come. NY is building new casinos. But liberty folks in NH want a free market in casinos or nothing. As far as I know, that's only been accomplished in America in NV, and that was when NV was just a large chuck of desert.

Still, even with the compromises, this bill is progress for the state of Maine. It is a win for self-defense. :) People can now visit VT and ME and wear a coat without any paperwork :) Once we get another Republican governor in NH, we hope to join them. Image that, all three Northern New England states allowing Constitutional Carry. Let's not forget that this was Ron Paul's best region in 2012!
