Former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum is the only 2016 candidate from either party expressly committed to reducing legal immigration, on top of securing the border and dealing with illegal immigrants already in the country.
“It’s about time someone doesn’t just bow to corporate America on the Republican side, or just play the ethnic politics that the left now plays,” Santorum said Thursday on the Laura Ingraham Show.
Santorum proposes to slow the rate of legal immigration by reducing the number of legal immigrants allowed into the country every year from about one million to 750,000. He believes high levels of legal and illegal immigration in recent decades have suppressed the wages of American workers, hitting middle and lower income families particularly hard.
“Everyone can say they’re against amnesty, but what else are you for and what else are you against?” Santorum spokesman Matt Beynon told The Daily Caller News Foundation. “These are serious questions.”
...
“What Santorum is proposing is simply to put American workers first,” Beynon told TheDCNF.
...
“I have no problem [with], and in fact support, highly skilled workers coming into this country that are in fact economic multipliers — that can in fact create jobs,” he told Ingraham. “But that’s not what this H-1b program is increasingly being used for. It’s being used … to displace existing workers with cheaper foreign work.”
“This is an opportunity for the Republican Party and for a leader to come forward and say, someone is going to be on the side of the American worker,” he added. “And that’s what I’m going to do.”

Lol... As if reducing legal immigration just wouldn't increase illegal immigration.
Friggin' Santorum. Turning into Robert Reich before the American public. But hey, he's trying to carve out a niche in a crowded field. I guess "FAKE" wasn't doing it for him.

Depends on the industry. Entry level restaurant, farm work, etc. can always get away with utilizing under the table labor.
Gates and Zuckerberg would have more trouble trying to do that.

Yep, friggin' Santorum and friggin' Sanders. Long shots with nothing to lose, who will go so far as to pander to average US citizens. No worries, if they were actually elected, they would become crony globalists overnight.

Yet another reason not to vote for him.

Clarifying question:
Please, please, please do not take Offense, oh Great One, I would just like you to clarify, do you support Santorum in this position he's taking? Also, do we understand you correctly that you are saying you feel some affinity or sympathy for both Rick Santorum and Bernie Sanders? Thanks*

Santorum already showed how he was willing to play ball with Bushco. when he was in the Senate. I don't believe him.

So, ol' Sweater Vest is trying to lock down the Know-Nothing vote..
Works for me. Let them congregate around someone who isn't a real challenger.

They are all globalists in respect to immigration. I don't trust anyone be it RP or Santorum. I don't believe Santorum either.

Ok, that is funny.
I don't have any extraordinary sympathy for Santorum, Sanders or Levin (the "Great One"). I'm not advocating support of Santorum or Sanders. My sympathy lies with the average, everyday American.
I do have some affinity for a politician who said that immigration policy should depend upon the current state of the economy:
Ron Paul: “I Believe In National Sovereignty”. (http://www.vdare.com/articles/ron-paul-i-believe-in-national-sovereignty)
...
What is your view on legal immigration?
I think it depends on our economy. If we have a healthy economy, I think we could be very generous on work programs. People come in, fulfill their role and go back home.
I`m not worried about legal immigration. I think we would even have more if we had a healthy economy.
But in the meantime, we want to stop the illegals. And that`s why I don`t think our border guards should be sent to Iraq, like we`ve done. I think we need more border guards. But to have the money and the personnel, we have to bring our troops home from Iraq.
Is the economy healthy enough right now?
No. I don`t think so. I think the economy is going downhill. People are feeling pinched—in the middle, much more pinched than the government is willing to admit.

Yep. You could probably break every issue down on a scale of globalism to localism.
For instance, take policing. Some want that as local as possible. Some want it at the State level. Many want it Federal. And many want it global. It's more than just the neoconservatives that want to "police the world".
A somewhat related issue would be marijuana. Should it be banned, regulated or uncontrolled? Should that be at a local, State, Federal or Global level?
Gay marriage: Should it be banned, regulated or uncontrolled? Should that be at a local, State, Federal or Global level?
Guns: Should they be banned, regulated or uncontrolled? Should that be at a local, State, Federal or Global level?
Murder: Should it be banned, regulated or uncontrolled? Should that be at a local, State, Federal or Global level?
Rape: Should it be banned, regulated or uncontrolled? Should that be at a local, State, Federal or Global level?
Suffrage: Should it be banned, regulated or uncontrolled? Should that be at a local, State, Federal or Global level?
What we do know is that the elite crony-corporatist-socialist-establishment pretty much want everything on a global scale, controlled by them as a global Oligarchy/Plutocracy/Politburo.

Not a fan of Santorum, especially is Foreign Policy but I would support him on this issue. The more candidates that bring this into the national dialog the better.
