PORTLAND, Ore. (Reuters) - Crowds counted down the minutes to midnight then lit up joints as smoking marijuana became legal in Oregon on Wednesday and the legalization movement spread to a fourth U.S. state.

Kevin Sabet, president of anti-marijuana group Smart Approaches to Marijuana, said: "When most Oregonians realize this is about Big Marijuana making money, and they see child poisonings from THC gummy bears and candies go up, along with car accidents, they may have reservations."

People 21 and older can now possess up to an ounce of pot when away from home and up to 8 ounces at home. It's also legal to grow up to four plants per household.

Why four? Where do they come up with these numbers?

Legalization of drugs is another doom for America, likewise legalization of sodomite so-called marriage. However, war on drugs is a waste of time and costs and it got to be stopped. We lost this war anyway. But marijuana and other drugs must stay illegal and be prohibited to be sold. But when it comes with the possession of marijuana, it better to be decriminalized. Jailing felons for possessing and using drugs is hopeless and won't change felons behaviors with drugs.

Government continually ignoring its constitutional limits is the ultimate doom, not legalizing chemicals that we all have the god given right to put into our bodies if we choose.

By the way, all the domestic "Wars" (i.e., War On Druuuugs, War on Poverty, War on Terrorism, War on Whatthefuckever) is reeally just s slick way of saying that the government is at war with its own damn population.

Stick around and you will see that legalization is not the problem, but the years of Medieval style persecution by bureaucrats has cause incalculable destruction to the lives of MILLIONS. Big problem.

Even if these "drugs" were to stay illegal, there's no way in hell the punishment for drug-related crimes is reasonable. The idea someone could be locked up for multiple decades for exchanging a small bag of leaves for cash is ridiculous.

Jesus put cannabis in his annointing oils, so you'll have to go back in time and arrest him for healing all those sick people with it.

I strongly agree with you that the Fed Gov is out of control and law. War on drugs, poverty, and so-called terrorism supported indeed by the US means nonsense. The states only have rights to mandate their laws. Possession of drugs got to be decriminalized. Only sale of narcs openly in stores like alcohol got to stay illegal according to laws of states.
