Nothin' says freedom like going to jail for jumping off the freedom tower

The three men accused of taking part in a B.A.S.E. jump from One World Trade Center in September 2013 were found guilty Monday of second degree reckless endangerment, reckless endangerment of property, and base jumping.

James Brady, 33, Marko Markovich, 28, and Andrew Rossing, 34, climbed 104 flights of stairs to the tower's communications ring and jumped off. One landed on the West Side Highway and the other two nearby.

After an investigation by the Manhattan District Attorney's Office, the NYPD and the Port Authority Police Department, the men were arrested in March 2014. They all pleaded guilty.

Investigators say Brady was employed as an iron worker at the site and previously hid their equipment in the building.

The defendants' lawyers argue their clients are being made scapegoats for the city's embarrassment over security lapses.

Manhattan D.A. Cy Vance says the three took pride in their actions and have yet to acknowledge the dangerousness or cost.

The three men are all expected to be sentenced in August.

There really needs to be an amendment that states someone can't be charged with multiple crimes for one crime, if this was really a crime anyway. Like a drug dealer selling someone drugs. Not just charged with that, but charged with both possession and sale.
