Nice job, twitter.:)

Glenn Greenwald slammed the New York Times Thursday morning for a story quoting numerous anonymous senior officials who claimed that the non-renewal of three sections of the Patriot Act was tantamount to “playing national security Russian Roulette” in a time of unspecified “mounting terrorism threats.”

Sensing the true danger involved, many vigilant citizens (starting with @benmarlin) took to Twitter to highlight the imminent, mounting, terrifying terrorist threat inevitably unleashed #IfThePatriotActExpires.

How did we all get along for the >200 years before we had the Patriot Act (so called)?

My SWAG, probably just about the same as then.

If there is another terrorist attack on the USA then it will be used as justification to re-implement the spying program.

Very reckless move to end PA while US is looking to further expand interventions in Syria, Iraq, Benghazi and maybe Iran. What other tools we have left for blowback management if PA is allowed to sunset tomorrow? There is no advertized plan B.

This is a direct stab at future interventions and would greatly limit our ability to stand with our closest allies in mideast to defend our shared values of freedoms and civil liberties at home.

Not to mention other fringe benefits like government ability to automatically detect sins like Dennis Hastert wrestling coaching foul plays would also be compromised.
