HARWOOD: When you think about 90 percent, you don’t think that’s obviously too high?

SANDERS: No. That’s not 90 percent of your income, you know? That’s the marginal. I’m sure you have some really right-wing nut types, but I’m not sure that every very wealthy person feels that it’s the worst thing in the world for them to pay more in taxes, to be honest with you. I think you’ve got a lot of millionaires saying, “You know what? I’ve made a whole lot of money. I don’t want to see kids go hungry in America. Yeah, I’ll pay my fair share.”

This false conclusion that more tax dollars will lead to less hungry kids. LOL

Indeed. And it was was a big surprise when Clinton wanted to soak the rich and our barely-making-it family found out we were rich. That tax hike created a lot of hungry kids because their parents had to replace chicken and ground turkey with an extra helping of mac and cheese.

Sometimes I wonder if he really believes the BS coming out of his mouth or if he is just playing his part as the socialist democrat. He also want to transform the US into Scandinavia by increasing taxes on the rich. The man is either delusional or a complete fraud.

"If 99 percent of all the new income goes to the top 1 percent, you could triple it, it wouldn't matter much to the average middle class person. The whole size of the economy and the GDP doesn't matter if people continue to work longer hours for low wages and you have 45 million people living in poverty. You can't just continue growth for the sake of growth in a world in which we are struggling with climate change and all kinds of environmental problems. All right? You don't necessarily need a choice of 23 underarm spray deodorants or of 18 different pairs of sneakers when children are hungry in this country."

The man is absolute daffy, and he was long before senility could have excused it. I though everybody outside of Vermont and a few other bastions of primitive government worship were clear on this.

Oh. Well, then ... in that case, why do they need Bernie Sanders to jab a gun into their ribs?

Lets just limit peoples wealth to a specific amount, say a million dollars.

Noone really needs more than a million dollars. Unless you want to do coke off supermodels asses on a 80 foot yacht, which of course noone wants to do because obviously theyd prefer to feed the poor.

No time to hunt up a video, but Kennedy eviscerated him on "Kennedy Nation" for this remark, pointing out among other things that they were speaking at a Ben & Jerry's event, and nobody NEEDS that many flavors of ice cream, either.

Leftists often tell you exactly what they think and what direction they wish to mold society. Believe them.

Petitioning Senator Bernie Sanders
To read an economics book. Just one, even.

"It is no crime to be ignorant of economics, which is, after all, a specialized discipline and one that most people consider to be a 'dismal science.' But it is totally irresponsible to have a loud and vociferous opinion on economic subjects while remaining in this state of ignorance." Murray N. Rothbard

Except Krugman, do not read Krugman!

Even Krugman and the Keynesians would tell him that a higher tax-rate does not equate higher tax incomes. At some point people will stop working, everything will be done via black markeds, and the government will have very little income. Going from 10% to 20% usually will increase revenue, (Not a good point in itself if you ask me) but when going from 10% to 60%, you could end up with the same revenue for the government, of course at much larger damage to wealth and the economy at 60%. 90% is WTF-land. Like in: Nobody would work, children will starve in the streets, and you have to put the army into the streets to prevent mass riot and revolution.

I should point out that the effective tax rate in Norway is close to 50% on average, even higher for the wealthiest, and still there is wealth and prosperity here. But, there is so little innovation, far too few startups, missing dynamism from the economy... Then lot's of paperwork to fill out to get some of your tax money back as subsidies. It's being held up by a thriving petroleum industry, which is kind of fading nowadays. Not a good system in the long run.
