LEWISTON, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Senator Angus King spent some of his Memorial Day weekend touring a new facility in Lewiston that provides shelter for homeless veterans.The non-profit Veterans Inc. has facilities across the state. The one in Lewiston opened in January. It provides housing and support services to veterans.
Senator King sat in on a round-table discussion with facility staff and residents, as they discussed the challenges veterans face while transitioning back to civilian life.

The event will last one week at the National Guard Armory in Pomona.

In remembrance of fallen soldiers, a weeklong event in Pomona beginning Memorial Day will offer homeless services to veterans and anyone else in need at the local National Guard Armory.
The fourth annual “Heroes in the Shadows” San Gabriel Valley Veterans Stand Down (http://www.pasadenaindependent.com/news/third-annual-san-gabriel-valley-homeless-veterans-stand-down-heroes-in-the-shadows/)event begins Memorial Day and running through Friday at 600 S. Park Ave.
