Study on gay marriage published in respected Science journal is retracted because graduate assistant 'faked data'

The study was original published in the journal Science, in December
It found that people's opinions on same-sex marriage could change after short conversations with members of the gay community
Columbia University political science Professor Donald Green retracted the study on Wednesday

A study on gay marriage that was widely covered has been retracted, on allegations that one of the authors forged data.
The study 'When contact changes minds: An experiment on transmission of support of gay marriage' was published in the journal Science in December and reported that most subjects' opinions on same-sex marriage changed after short conversations with members of the gay community.
However, when a group at UC Berkeley took an interest in the study, and tried to replicate it, they found they were not getting the same results as the progressive responses reported in Science.
Columbia University political science professor Donald Green, one of the co-authors of the study, decided to retract the study on Wednesday, after talking to one of his graduate assistants on Tuesday who failed to provide evidence of the data he collected.

Thrown out: A study on gay marriage opinions was retracted Wednesday by Columbia University Professor Donald Green (left). Green, one of the co-authors of the study, said he retracted it after questions were raised about the data obtained by another author, UCLA graduate assistant Michael LaCour (right)

'I am deeply embarrassed by this turn of events and apologize to the editors, reviewers, and readers of Science,' Green told the blog Retraction Watch.

Not surprised.
The Left will do ANYTHING to further it's wacko agenda.

Heck, they were caught even faking climate data.
Adjusting it to make it seem as though it was getting warmer when it was actually getting cooler.

Lol, anything to push their agenda.

Absolutely. This agenda is being rammed down our throats to cause great division. If the gay community wants to live their lifestyles in liberty they need to back away from this suicide mission.

Only nutjobs who cling to outliers or retracted studies suspect science. (Which does not need quote marks, but would need 2 here if it did.) This actually proves the system works as it is supposed to.

1. Researchers conduct experiment to test hypothesis.
2. Peers review the methodology.
3. Study gets published.
4. Other scientists replicate results.
5. Hypothesis is repeatedly supported - becomes widely accepted.

No single step means a damned thing except to those with predetermined agendas. Like, the media shoving gay rights or those who want to see infants die from vaccine preventable diseases.

'science' is not same as science though.

And some people are influenced by children more than science articles anyways as apparently happened in case of ddg.

One would think... hope???... that the good professor would have vetted his work prior to publication.

But no. This gay thing seems so certain of itself in any and all angles positing it as right and proper and so forth that the proponents appear to also hold that the usual care in diligence is not required.

Guess they were wrong-0, eh?

Speaking of non-scientific research, does watching these photos of current PEN America POTUS Andrew Solomon with his husband and adopted son change any views here on gay marriage?
