Says ‘leave-me-alone’ coalition is strong in NH
By John DiStaso - May 11, 2015

Rand Paul picked up the endorsements of 20 Republican state representatives for his presidential bid Monday.

The Kentucky senator said in an interview the support shows “New Hampshire is one of our best spots. We think the ‘leave-me-alone’ coalition is strong in New Hampshire, and right out of the gate, getting 19 state reps to support us is a big deal. We’re excited about where we’re starting.”

First reported by WMUR.com on Twitter, Paul’s campaign announced the endorsements as he held a town hall meeting in Londonderry.

Those supporting him are Reps. Laura Jones of Rochester, Dan McGuire of Epsom, Keith Ammon of New Boston, Keith Murphy and Bart Fromuth of Bedford, Christopher Adams of Brookline, Glen Aldrich of Gilford, Ralph Boehm of Litchfield, Eric Eastman and David Murotake of Nashua, Larry Gagne, Victoria Sullivan and Joe LaChance of Manchester, Joseph Hannon of Lee, Shem Kellogg of Plaistow, James McConnell of Keene, Jim Parison of New Ipswich, Eric Schleien of Hudson, Brian Seaworth of Pembroke and Nick Zaricki of Goffstown.

Dave Murotake is also on the Nashua school board. I think Keith Murphy owns Murphy's Tap, in Manchester, right, Shem?

Fine, but they're state level reps. Good and it's a step in the right direction, but he'll want endorsements from folks higher up the totem pole as well. Governors, mayors, that sort.

Which governors do you see as possibilities?

There's no way the names I recognize on this list would endorse him before the primary ends, but are there some liberty governors that I don't know about?

Paul LePage of Maine is possible.

Not really, if they're all Republican elected state reps, they all have their constituent network that they should consistently be reaching out to and having relationships with.

This is the GOP primary, if the system in NH is the same as CA, the mayors and city council of cities (while good endorsements to have) are not partisan, state elected officials tend to be partisan and thats what we need.

Here where I am, Republican state reps are pretty influential. I would say having these 20 endorsements are GREAT for Rand. Anyone remember how many did Romney have last election?

I doubt you'll get that information unless you want to double check when each of those 30 endorsed Ron.

I don't know, and its not comparable. Campaigns generally have a number of endorsements up their sleeves, and release them publicly when they think they will have the most impact. If you find that info, it will only shed light on timing strategy.
