Costa Mesa Mayor Allan Mansoor announced he would officially endorse the candidacy of Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul, a congressman from Texas.

Paul, who ran for president as the Libertarian Party candidate in 1988, has been vocal on a number of issues that set him apart from his GOP colleagues, including his opposition to the occupation of Iraq and economic globalization.

“I trust Ron Paul,” Mansoor said in a prepared statement. “The other Democrat and ‘Republican’ candidates are all the same business as usual.

This is big news if it happens. From what I've heard there's been lots of grassroots activity in Costa Mesa. You see, grassroots can help make things happen. :D :D :D

he "said" he'd endorse Ron Paul, so at this point RON PAUL HQ needs to take action and get this person on board. The Major gave HQ what it needs to move forward.

So, uhmmm.. HQ - here is someone that wants to endorse you..... uhmm, send a Press Release for this one, at least....

...they send press releases on endorsements, the media just doesn't listen and Paul's ego isn't big enough to create a big scene by having a press conference with "Ron Paul" in the background and all the media is invited.

Maybe this is the time to do one of those moments and create a big scene with Paul and the mayor together.

Unless it's Oprah, it won't matter. That's what I've been hearing.
But maybe it'd be different for a man like Paul?

This might sound crazy with time running out for Iowa and New Hampshire, but maybe Dr. Paul should come to Southern California for a day and have a press conference with the mayor.

It will at least make the local news and it might create a domino effect of endorsements.

fund raiser!!

Maybe a swing through Orange County and/or San Diego for fundraising to boot. Perhaps Dr. Paul could use some warm California sunshine and take a little rest from the cold of the East.

More effective than a press release, might be an advertisement in Costa Mesa.

The campaign needs to issue a press release for every major endorsement Dr. Paul receives. Period. No excuses. It's a very simple thing to do.

I'm good friends with Mayor Mansoor. I'm also one of the leaders of the Irvine Ron Paul Meetup Group and I have been telling Allan all about the campaign. He finally called me up a few nights ago to let me know about his decision to endorse Ron Paul. I was elated. Here is what I wrote on my blog:

Have you contacted the campaign about this endorsement? Seems like big news to me.
