I hate to start yet another Huckabee thread, but I continue to be amazed that he is getting such support. It goes to show what a sad state the Republican party is in that Ron Paul's GOP credentials are questioned, but Huckabee's are not.

I just read this story (http://apnews.myway.com/article/20071205/D8TAUN3O4.html) (from Drudge) where Huckabee brushes off questions about his opinion on creationism being taught in schools by basically saying that his opinion is irrelevant because the federal government shouldn't be involved in education.

"That's an irrelevant question to ask me - I'm happy to answer what I believe, but what I believe is not what's going to be taught in 50 different states," Huckabee said. "Education is a state function. The more state it is, and the less federal it is, the better off we are."

Yet, a quick search turns up this: Huckabee Backs No Child Left Behind (http://blog.thehill.com/2007/04/30/huckabee-backs-no-child-left-behind/). It's funny to watch him justify NCLB, saying basically that it's "just the right kind" of federal intervention.

How do his "small government" supporters justify this? It sure is nice to support a candidate that has principals.
